The Country Gentlemen def. The Savages of Samoa in a Crockett Cup First-Round MatchThis lasted a lot longer than I expected. It had to have been the longest Crockett Cup first-round match yet, right? It wasn't overly exciting, but it was decent and competitive, which I assume means the NWA intends to use Savages of Samoa more going forward despite them not advancing. Country Gentlemen going over was the correct choice, even though I don't see them going much deeper in the bracket. Kyle Davis Interviewed NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion EC3 and NWA World Women's Tag Team Champions The King BeesWe've been getting a lot more interview segments on Powerrr in the past few weeks, which have largely been effective in hyping up first-round matches in the Crockett Cup and announcing upcoming matches. We got that here with EC3 calling out Wrecking Ball Legursky and saying that he'll defend the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship against him, but the rest of this was pointless with the appearance of a local radio dude and The King Bees not saying much of anything. Kyle Davis Interviewed BLK Jeez, Mims and NWA National Champion Thom LatimerNot counting that awesome video packaged that aired for him recently recapping his crazy past year, it's been a long time since Jeez was last featured on NWA programming, so it was cool to see him back here. It looks like he'll be a manager for Mims going forward and I dig that pairing. Latimer was there, too, but I don't believe he'll have any association with Jeez, so his interview should've been separate. He kept it short and sweet in addressing Zyon as his next challenger. The Immortals def. The Kidz in a Crockett Cup First-Round MatchThe commentators acknowledging that The Kids attacked The Immortals a while back was a nice touch because this made this first-round match slightly more meaningful. It didn't change the predictability surrounding the outcome, mind you, but The Kidz scored way more offense than I thought they would. Surely that's an encouraging sign for their future with the NWA. Meanwhile, The Immortals are an early favorite to win the whole thing. Kyle Davis Interviewed Dory Funk Jr. and NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion EC3As noted, we already heard from EC3 earlier, so I don't know why he had to present for this segment as well other than for Funk to shower him with praise. That's fine, but maybe this could have been saved for next week since it wasn't imperative that it aired on this episode? That's merely nitpicking, though. Despite the company's many faults, the NWA does a tremendous job of honoring the legends and Funk was no exception here. Ella Envy def. Kylie Paige and Taylor Rising in an NWA World Women's Championship No. 1 Contender's Three-Way MatchIt was previously teased what would happen if a member of Pretty Empowered earned the title shot against Kenzie Paige, and now we know why. Envy won with an assist from Miss Starr and apparently that will be a partnership going forward. Obviously, that means she's done in Pretty Empowered, which is a welcome change for the group because they had done it all as a group. This was basically a Handicap match with Rising attempting to overcome the disadvantage for most of it, but it was a well-worked main event on the whole. Overall ShowThe first-round matches in the Crockett Cup received significantly more time this week and I'm not sure why, especially since both bouts had expected outcomes. However, I can't complain about there being more of an emphasis on the in-ring action, even if none of the matches this week stood out in a major way. The swerve with Envy at the end was notable, so it was a solid show by Powerrr standards.
