NWA Powerrr Review - March 11, 2025

Colby Corino def. Sam Adonis in a Dane Memorial Heavyweight Tournament Play-In Match

I love that the NWA is holding a tournament in the late Jax Dane's honor with a shot at the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship on the line. I believe the commentators referenced the fact that one of Adonis' last NWA matches prior to this was challenging for the title, so his involvement was logical. These two had a nice match and Corino advancing was the correct outcome. He'll face Silas Mason in the quarterfinals.

NWA World Women's Tag Team Champions NWA World Women's Champion Kenzie Paige and NWA Women's Television Champion Big Mama def. Mystii Marks and CJ

There was a lengthy video package that aired prior to this with Kylie Paige at home rehabbing her injury in the pool with her dad coaching her. It was a little lengthy, but I appreciated the attempt to add some story to what's going on with Pretty Empowered. There wasn't much to this match, but it wasn't bad. Rather, it was what it needed to be with Paige and Mama having their first successful title defense together.

Kerry Morton def. Wrecking Ball Legursky in a Dane Memorial Heavyweight Tournament Quarterfinal Match

Legursky is usually relegated to the tag team ranks with Jay Bradley, so it was refreshing to see him do his own thing for a change while in babyface mode. I liked the dynamic that these two had and thought they made the most of the time they had in what was a decent match. Morton moving on was the right call, especially after the backstage promo he cut beforehand.

Overall Show

Did the NWA all of a sudden come into a lot of money? The production was much improved and the video packages were really well shot. More of that sort of stuff, please. Perhaps they want Powerrr to be more meaningful by the time WWE's Natalya appears at the Crockett Cup tapings in May. At any rate, this was an easy thumbs-up show that featured a tag title match and the kickoff to a new tourney that will give multiple matches some stakes in the coming weeks.
