Kyle Davis Interviewed Thom Latimer and NWA Television Champion Bryan IdolIt was established here that Idol has reached seven title defenses and intends to cash in on the Lucky 7 rule. I have no interest in another rematch between Latimer and Silas Mason for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship, but Latimer taking exception to Idol moving into championship contention is an interesting development. The same can be said for the tension teased between Kerry Morton and Mason later on in the show ahead of the tag team match with all four. Trevor Murdoch def. Pretty Boy SmoothThis was part of the program between Knox and Murdoch and The Holy Grail. It was perfectly passable, but the heel vs. heel dynamic has been strange and the matches haven't been anything out of the ordinary. Plus, I'm just waiting for EC3 to disappear from the show since he announced his departure from the NWA months ago. I have to imagine the feud will be forgotten about at that point, so it's difficult to care in the meantime. Herra def. Kylie Paige in a Submission Match by DisqualificationThis stemmed from the tag team match Herra and Teal Piper had against Pretty Empowered recently. We know nothing about Herra, so although she's a fresh face in the women's division, they need to flesh out her character more. Doing a Submission match was fine, but having it end in a disqualification was incredibly lame, and it's not like what we got prior to that point was all that great, either. Alex Taylor def. Tyler Franks, JAC and Bryce Hansen in a Four-Way Elimination MatchTaylor has been on a losing streak since dropping the NWA Junior Heavyweight Championship and I figured that would continue here, but apparently not. In fact, he picked up every elimination. I assume this was designed to get him back on track, but they could've have dragged out the losing streak a little longer. The match itself was well worked in the time it was allotted. The Country Gentlemen (AJ and CJ Cazana) def. NWA World Tag Team Champions The Immortals by DisqualificationDoing two disqualification finishes on the same show was a dumb decision. This one was better executed, but it still didn't make sense since it's not as if Country Gentlemen were the defending champs. Country Gentlemen outsmarted The Immortals here and we'll probably get a rematch, but they could have just won the titles here instead. The match was solid otherwise. Overall ShowThe NWA has largely been better about not doing so many groan-worthy finishes in the last few months, so it was disappointing to get two on the same show. The rest of the episode was adequate, but the best parts were the opening segment and the vignette with The Southern Six later on. The developments with them were well done and left me looking forward to that tag team match.
