Mike Orlando and The Cheese def. The Heavenly Butterflies in a Crockett Cup Play-In MatchThese teams are completely new to the NWA audience (myself included) and received no formal introduction. I know the NWA has working relationship with various independent promotions and that's cool, but there's no reason to care about these new faces unless they stick around. The match itself was decent, but my biggest takeaway was that these are two goof teams and aren't to be taken seriously. Making it a Crockett Cup play-in match at least gave it some significance. Knox and Murdoch and The Immortals Exchanged WordsThis is where the bracket for this year's Crockett Cup was revealed along with who's slotted at what seed. Have they done that on Powerrr in previous years? I honestly don't remember. Regardless, it's a smart way to get viewers looking forward to the tournament. The subsequent verbal exchange between Knox and Murdoch and The Immortals, albeit brief, was a nice touch. Knox and Murdoch won it last year and The Immortals could very well win it this year. The Spectaculars (Slade and Brady Pierce) def. Cam Fox and Kai Price in a Crockett Cup Play-In MatchWait, since when did Pierce rejoin The Spectaculars? Was there a segment that I missed where it was explained why he's back in the group? Some stars go weeks without appearing and certain storylines aren't followed up on, so it's possible I'm forgetting about something that happened with Pierce. Nonetheless, the match was essentially a squash. I'm not sure why The Spectaculars weren't automatically inserted into the Crockett Cup. Zyon def. Mims in an NWA National Championship No. 1 Contender's MatchWhat a weird match to do considering both guys are heels. It felt like Mims was back in babyface mode for this match since Austin Idol aided Zyon to victory. Mims had some momentum coming off his betrayal of Dak Draper a few weeks ago, so having Zyon earn the National title shot instead was the wrong call. Perhaps the only positive thing I can say about this is that the match itself was good and one of Zyon's better bouts in recent memory. Overall ShowIf last week's show was supposed to be the "season finale," this wasn't an overly exciting season premiere. I appreciated that all three matches had stakes, but none of them are worth checking out from an in-ring standpoint. Three of the four teams were random and have no prior exposure on Powerrr to my knowledge. At least they kicked off the build to the Crockett Cup by announcing who will be partaking in the tournament.
