NWA National Champion Thom Latimer def. Jake Sterling (Non-Title)I believe this is the first time we've seen Latimer in action since winning the NWA National Championship, so it was logical to give him a straightforward showcase win here. Sterling scored minimal offense and the match didn't overstay its welcome. Latimer set the tone for his reign with his post-match promo and there was nothing necessarily wrong with it, but as I've said before, Latimer isn't the most exciting choice in this role in my opinion. Kyle Davis Interviewed Samoans of Savagery and The KidzMuch like the interviews Davis conducted last week, this was where we found out the Crockett Cup opponents for these teams. Samoans of Savagery will be taking on The Country Gentlemen while The Kidz battle The Immortals. Needless to say, neither of these teams are winning. They cut passable promos here, but it didn't make them feel like legitimate threats to advance in any way. Daisy Kill and Talos def. The Stew Crew in a Crockett Cup First-Round MatchVampiro was at ringside for Kill and Talos and aided them to victory. I know he's been scouting Natalia Markova and has had other prospects as of late, but I must have missed him expressing interest in managing Kill and Talos (or I just don't remember because NWA doesn't follow up on stuff very well). I know nothing about Stew Crew and thus there was zero uncertainty surrounding the outcome. The match was okay. Kyle Davis Interviewed Billy Corgan, Tiffany Nieves, Reka Tehaka and NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion Joe AlonzoCorgan is usually presented as William Patrick Corgan whenever he appears on Powerrr, but he's Billy Corgan in my book. Nonetheless, he announced here that Nieves and Tehaka will face La Rosa Negra and Ruthie Jay one more time and the winner of that match will then face The Queen Bees for the NWA World Women's Tag Team Championship. He also announced that Alonzo will defend the NWA Junior Heavyweight Championship against Alex Taylor, so this was a newsworthy segment. The Southern Six ("Thrillbilly" Silas Mason and Kerry Morton) def. The Slime Ballz in a Crockett Cup First-Round MatchI've made it quite clear in my reviews over the last six months that I'm no fan of Slime Ballz, so I was happy to see Southern Six defeat them in decisive fashion here to advance in the tournament. I actually would have preferred it to be more of a squash, especially with Mason being fresh off his NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship match with EC3, but it was fine while it lasted. I liked that we heard from Taylor afterward, who addressed his upcoming opportunity at the Junior Heavyweight title. NWA Television Champion Max the Impaler def. Magic Jake DumasThe men's Television title was on the line here. Max still holds the NWA Women's Television Championship as well and defends it when they face a female. I guess the story was that Dumas has been in the running for a Television title shot for a while, but I honestly never noticed. This almost went the entire six minutes and five seconds, but Max ended up picking up the win before the time limit expired. It was a decent main event. Overall ShowThe Crockett Cup remains the central focus of NWA programming at the moment. Hopefully the matches improve as we get deeper into the tournament. The first-round matches are predictable and exactly what you'd expect in terms of quality. There's other stuff being set up as well, so that's appreciated. Of course, it sounds like they're building toward one singular show, but the Crockett Cup event was already taped a week or two ago and will be airing on upcoming episodes of Powerrr. This was a serviceable show.
