Thom Latimer and Knox and Murdoch Interrupted The Southern Six's Championship Celebration for NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion "Thrillbilly" Silas MasonI couldn't tell you the last type of segment I saw like this on Powerrr and it was really refreshing. Mason celebrating becoming NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion was standard stuff, but I loved how Latimer approached him about wanting a rematch before Trevor Murdoch came out (with an injured Mike Knox) to remind Latimer about his history with that title and never getting a rematch himself. The mic work here was strong and did an effective job of setting up Latimer vs. Murdoch in a number one contender's match at some point. NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion and NWA World Tag Team Champion Alex Taylor def. Damien FenrirTaylor has had himself a pretty strong reign as Junior Heavyweight champ over the last year-plus with some quality matches, this one included. Fenrir hasn't been around long enough to feel like a legitimate threat to the title, but they still had a competitive contest. My only issue with Taylor's run is that he hasn't had any storylines on his own. It's largely just been random title defenses every so often, but at least he's delivering in the ring. Nightmare Syn def. Tyler Franks and ArgentoIt appears Nightmare Syn are sticking together beyond the Crockett Cup. I can't say they overly interest me as a team, but they're a fine addition to the tag team ranks, and perhaps they'll challenge for either the NWA World Tag Team Championship or the NWA United States Tag Team Championship eventually. This was a solid showcase that allowed them to establish their dominance. NWA Television Champion Bryan Idol def. Spencer Slade by DisqualificationUnlike most NWA Television Championship defenses, this had no time limit. I believe that's been a thing since he captured the title, but I might be wrong about that. Regardless, this was a decent match from these two. The disqualification finish was lame, but I assume it sets up a rematch, not to mention it gives Idol another successful title defense as he gets closer to the Lucky 7. NWA World Tag Team Champions The Immortals def. The ColonsI can't recall if The Colons did anything to earn a shot at the tag titles, but they're notable enough names (by NWA standards) for this to feel worthy of the main event slot. It was a well-worked outing that didn't overstay its welcome with The Immortals ultimately standing tall. It was straightforward stuff, but I don't know that it needed to be anything more than what it was. Overall ShowEven with the NWA 77 tapings in the rear view, this still felt like a significant show with three championship matches. Granted, none of the titles were in much jeopardy of changing hands, but I appreciate the effort to make the matchups more meaningful. As previously mentioned, I was a big fan of the opening segment and what it means for the immediate future of the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship picture.
