NWA Powerrr Review - November 26, 2024

NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Thom Latimer def. Race Allen

Yes, this was a random NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship defense with zero prior hype to my knowledge. Allen is from one of the promotions/wrestling schools the NWA works with, but that's about all I know about him. As I always say, these matches would benefit from a video package so the viewers can get to know some of these unknown wrestlers, even if they have zero chance of winning. This was fairly standard stuff to establish Latimer's dominance as champ.

NWA World Tag Team Champions Knox and Murdoch def. The Fixers

This was much more competitive than the opener because The Fixers are obviously on the roster and are former champions in their own right. Granted, this was far from the most exciting outing (it was actually quite dull), but at least it was well worked while it lasted. Post-match, Knox and Murdoch challenged Blunt Force Trauma at Samhain (which has already been taped), just because they want to get their hands on Aron Stevens. Ugh, I thought we were done with that feud?!

Magic Jake Dumas def. Baron Von Storm by Disqualification

As I've said before, I immediately lose interest in almost anything involving Storm at this point, at least with his current character. It's beyond boring and most of his matches are slow and plodding. This was no exception. The disqualification with Storm getting blinded was especially lame. I have no idea why this existed other than to kill time. It certainly didn't leave me looking forward to an eventual rematch.

The Slime Ballz def. The Country Joes

Country Joes consisted of KC Cazana and his father (or is it his uncle?) Joe Cazana. Joe isn't a regular competitor, so it would've been ridiculous for Slime Ballz to lose here. The match itself was decent, but I liked how it was storyline-significant since these teams have been feuding for the last few weeks. The heels then challenged Slime Ballz to find a partner to face them in a six-man tag team matchup at the Samhain taping.

Overall Show

You'd think this would have been a bigger edition of Powerrr considering there were two title matches, but it felt like a filler show more than anything else, probably because Powerrr is in placeholder mode until the Samhain matches start airing. I appreciated that the main event mattered to a certain extent and set up something for the Samhain taping, so if nothing else, the Samhain hype on this episode was well done.
