NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion Joe Alonzo Won a 7-Man Scramble MatchJust when you think Alonzo might lose the NWA Junior Heavyweight Championship (because he legitimately left the promotion), he holds onto it. That's how outdated these Powerrr episodes are. He was advertised as defending against someone named Damien Fenrir, but when the show started, he was being interviewed in the ring by Kyle Davis. He was subsequently interrupted by Matt Cardona, who put him an impromptu seven-man Scramble match. I wasn't familiar with most of the competitors, but Camaro Jackson, Soda Pop, Jaden Newman and Tyler Franks were among them (they weren't officially announced, but some of them were named by the commentators at a few different points). They worked a nice pace, but the crowd didn't seem to care about any of this. Alonzo has since moved on to doing jobs in AEW and Ring of Honor. Jax Dane and Baron Von Storm def. The Slime BallzDane and Storm remain an incredibly boring duo. There isn't anything interesting about their alliance because most of their matches are slow and plodding. Thankfully, this had some energy thanks to Slime Ballz, but that's about it. I have to imagine Dane and Storm will continue racking up tag team wins until it comes for them to challenge for gold. It's worth noting that the commentators referenced how Dane has never won the NWA United States Tag Team Championship before, so perhaps they'll set their sights on that set of tag titles eventually. Tiffany Nieves, Reka Tehaka and The Southern Six ("Thrillbilly" Silas Mason, Kerry Morton and Alex Taylor) def. Big Mama, Taylor Rising, Burchill and The Country GentlemenThis was another match with no meaning, but to their credit, everyone put forth a solid effort and there were some fun moments. There was a lot going on, especially down the stretch, but it was important that Southern Six were kept strong with a win as they'll be facing Knox and Murdoch next week. I believe the NWA World Tag Team Championship will be on the line as well, but I could be wrong. Overall ShowThis was the fourth and final Back to the Territories edition of Powerrr as the content taped at NWA 76 will begin airing next week. It's about damn time. This was another throwaway show with nothing really worth seeking out, other than maybe the pre-taped sit-down interview EC3 and Thom Latimer had with Joe Galli. Both guys showed great intensity ahead of their NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship clash. I just don't have faith their match will deliver as they've never had the best in-ring chemistry together.
