NWA Powerrr Review - September 30, 2025

NWA World Tag Team Champions Knox and Murdoch def. Ty Awesome and Shawn Carlson (Non-Title)

Eric Smalls was in the corner of Awesome and Carlson. They never stood a chance, so it was smart to have Knox and Murdoch dismantle them quickly and decisively. I liked that Smalls challenged them to a singles match not next week but rather later in the show with the question becoming which one of them would accept. The NWA doesn't do stuff like that often, so I appreciated the change of pace.

Rich Swann def. Alex Misery in an NWA Junior Heavyweight Championship No. 1 Contender's Match

Swann is an excellent addition to the junior heavyweight division assuming he's here to stay for a bit and this isn't just a one-off, though I'm willing to bet his NWA run won't last long since he's also appearing in TNA at the moment. Nonetheless, this was a fun match from him and Misery. Powerrr normally lacks standout matches, so it's nice to get an enjoyable sprint like this once in a while.

NWA World Tag Team Champions Knox and Murdoch Attacked Eric Smalls

Knox and Murdoch attacked the referee before the bell could ring and proceeded to take turns beating down Smalls, so the match pitting Smalls against one of them never actually took place. As an angle, this was fine. The story has been solid so far and it's put god heat on Knox and Murdoch, but obviously, Smalls isn't a threat to them whatsoever, so he'll need backup eventually.

NWA Women's Television Champion and NWA World Women's Tag Team Champion Tiffany Nieves def. Aleah James

James has popped up on a few recent Ring of Honor shows, so it was cool to see her make an appearance in the NWA here. I know her best from the time she spent on WWE's NXT UK brand years ago. There wasn't much to this match due to the usual time limit, but what we got was perfectly passable. I'm glad Nieves is defending this title in addition to already being a tag team champ at the moment.

Da Pope def. NWA National Champion Mims (Non-Title)

I was wondering why this was non-title, but it became clear afterward that it was designed to earn Pope a title shot, not to mention giving him a title shot immediately upon his return wouldn't have made much sense. This was a well-worked main event and I had no issue with Mims losing since I'm all for Pope being back and feuding with him over the NWA National Championship, even if it's brief.

Overall Show

This was an easy thumbs-up edition of Powerrr in my opinion. Most of the cinematic stuff doesn't interest me personally, but everything else on this episode served a purpose and we got some progression on multiple fronts. Kenzie Paige defending her NWA World Women's Championship against Karissa Rivera (f.k.a. WWE's Elektra Lopez) was advertised for next week.
