Ring of Honor: Beantown Beatdown Review - July 21, 2026

The Death Riders (Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia) def. The Dark Order (Evil Uno and Alex Reynolds)

I constantly complain about Death Riders popping up on ROH TV because we certainly get enough of them on AEW TV, but this was a rare instance where their match made sense. They just failed to win the AEW World Tag Team Championship from Cage & Cope on last Wednesday's Dynamite, so this gave them a rebound win. Dark Order is obviously a dead faction in 2026, but they played their roles well here in what was a decent match.

Komander def. Alan Angels

It's been cool to see Angels pop up in multiple promotions in recent years between AEW, TNA, MLW and now Ring of Honor. He makes the most of his opportunities and can always be counted on for a quality contest. This was no exception. This felt like it served the same purpose as the opener in that it existed to give Komander a win after the barn burner that he lost against Kyle Fletcher on Dynamite last week.

Zachary Wentz def. Nick Comoroto

I gave up a long time ago wanting to see AEW/ROH do more with Comoroto given his impressive size (realistically, he should be squashing someone like Wentz), so he was a fine person for Wentz to beat here. They had a fairly average outing and I appreciate that it didn't last longer than it needed to. I doubt this amounts to anything for Wentz on his own, but at least he's fun to watch.

Bustah and the Brain and ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions The Outrunners def. Premier Athletes (Ariya Daivari and Tony Nese) and The Swirl

Alec Price and Jordan Oliver are northeasterners, so they were favored by this crowd in Boston and it was cool to see. This was an enjoyable eight-man tag team match, largely thanks to the energy that the babyfaces brought. Jay Lethal attempted to help The Swirl attack The Outrunners afterward before Dalton Castle made the save as we get closer to those two trios colliding for the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship.

Maya World def. Tiara James

World has been all over the place as of late. She was in the main event of last week's Dynamite, ran off Hikaru Shida on Collision and picked up a win on ROH TV here. I still say she should be the one to dethrone Athena for the ROH Women's World Championship, but they'll probably stick with Billie Starkz despite that story losing its juice years ago. Anyway, this was a standard showcase for World.

The Opps (Anthony Bowens, Katsuyori Shibata and Hook) def. LSG, Max St. Giovanni and GKM

Shibata was super over in front of this crowd for some reason. I say "for some reason" because most crowds have been fairly quiet for Shibata for a while now. Nonetheless, this was a simple squash for The Opps to give them their second win in six-man tag team action on ROH TV. I only know that because the commentators pointed that out (not because I remembered), so we'll see if that means they're headed toward an opportunity at the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship.

AEW National Champion Mark Davis def. Dezmond Xavier

I couldn't have cared less about Davis in the first few months of the year, but between his booking being so much better and him constantly killing it in his matches, I've become a fan of his work. I'm also happy to see him regularly defend that AEW National Championship. He's already advertised to defend against Andrade El Idolo at Redemption, so you knew he wasn't losing here, but it was an entertaining main event for what it was.

Overall Show

I believe these matches were from both the Dynamite and Collision tapings last week in Boston because I remember seeing the ending of The Opps' match as I was getting to my seat in the building. This is exactly what ROH TV should be: six to eight matches and a little over an hour long, not that two-and-a-half-hour nonsense from last Thursday. This episode was so much easier to get through with really good wrestling across the board.
