Thunder Rosa and CMLL Universal Amazons Champion Persephone def. ROH Women's World Television Champion Red Velvet and ROH Women's World Champion AthenaIt's been confirmed that Athena and Rosa will fight for the ROH Women's World Championship at Supercard of Honor, so much like the four-way they were both involved in on Wednesday's Dynamite, this served as a nice preview of that. It was weird for Rosa to pin Velvet if the ROH Women's World Television Championship isn't her focus, but I understand wanting to protect Athena from getting pinned at this point. It was a quality contest while it lasted. ROH World Television Champion Nick Wayne vs. Titan in an ROH World Television Championship Proving Ground Match Ended in a Time-Limit DrawI fully expected for Wayne to win decisively here, not only because that's usually how these Proving Ground matches go but also because Wayne is busy with Christian Cage on AEW TV at the moment. Well, I was wrong, but I'm not unhappy about that. These two worked well together and had a really well-wrestled outing, so I'm all for them running it back at Supercard of Honor with the title on the line. ROH World Champion Bandido def. Mascara DoradaI liked how it was established in the video package that aired beforehand that Bandido and Dorada are allies and that's why they faced off for the ROH World Championship here. This was a fantastic match and the best ROH World Championship defense I can remember seeing in some time. I didn't think Dorada would actually take the title, but they delivered some suspenseful nearfalls, nonetheless. I'm glad they received as much time as they did. Blue Panther def. ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty (Non-Title)Even with how old as he is, Panther is still over and isn't completely immobile in the ring. Morarity losing wasn't ideal, but it's not like he's been super protected, not to mention this set up a rematch between the two for the title at Supercard of Honor. This was a solid main event. The best part came afterward when Bryan Danielson randomly returned and allowed the luchadors to stand tall over Shane Taylor Promotions. Yes, Danielson making his first on-screen appearance since "retiring" on ROH TV of all places was strange, but it's really not that big of a deal, especially when you consider how much respect Danielson has for Arena Mexico and obviously wanted to appear there. Overall ShowThis was easily the best edition of ROH TV all year, without question. Much like at Grand Slam: Mexico, the crowd was hot all episode long and it made for an awesome atmosphere. Matches were finally announced for Supercard of Honor (about damn time), Bandido vs. Dorada was a banger and, oh yeah, Danielson returned! The show is worth seeking out for that stuff alone.
