Ring of Honor Review - July 28, 2026

AEW TBS Champion Maya World def. Janai Kai (Non-Title)

The entrances weren't shown because this was clearly taped before World won the AEW TBS Championship at Sunday's Redemption pay-per-view. Still, it was cool to have the TBS champ in action on ROH TV, even if that originally wasn't the intention. Kai has been impressive in the past and this was no exception, though this was largely about World despite it lasting a little longer than your typical squash.

Nick Wayne def. Alan Angels

Angels is usually better in the heel role, but he worked just fine as a face here against Wayne. Wayne has been getting more reps as of late, but it's going to take a lot more than a bunch of random matches to get him back to where he was on the card before he got hurt. He just failed to become number one contender to the AEW International Championship at Redemption, so this was a rebound win for him. It was a quality contest while it lasted.

The Opps (Anthony Bowens and Hook) and Action Andretti def. Landon Hale, Steve Allen and Robert Allen

The Opps linking up with Andretti was weird. Perhaps there's a connection there that I'm not aware of, but I can't say I care. Andretti is headed for a shot at Lio Rush's ROH World Television Championship at All In, so he's spinning his wheels until then, but he should be winning in the meantime. Although this was an inconsequential match, at least the heels won in dominant fashion.

Isla Dawn def. Erica Leigh

Dawn was aligned with Grizzled Young Veterans for a while, but she hasn't been around in a bit and appears to be back on her own. This was a straightforward squash to give her some momentum before she seemingly challenges Red Velvet for the ROH Women's World Television Championship (as she made clear in a backstage promo later). She also attacked Leigh afterward for some reaosn.

Adam Priest def. Kiran Grey

I'll never not be amazed that Grey gets an entrance any time he's in action on this show seeing as how he's always utilized as a jobber. He "aura farms" during his entrance but can't back it up in the ring. Priest didn't put him away as quickly as he should have, but the match was decent. Priest would make sense as ROH Pure Champion at some point, but that would require ending the forever reign of Lee Moriarty.

Griff Garrison def. Aaron Solo

I have to assume this episode emanated from the west coast because Solo was actually over here. Nothing against the guy, but he's always been incredibly generic and there wouldn't be much of a reason for fans to cheer for him otherwise. It basically a battle of the jobbers, but the bout exceeded my expectations. Neither of these guys are going anywhere, so I'm not sure what purpose this was supposed to serve.

Shane Taylor Promotions (ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty and Shane Taylor) def. Spanish Announce Project

It was announced beforehand that Moriarty will defend the ROH Pure Championship against Angelico on Friday's edition of ROH TV, so this was a preview of that match. Spanish Announce Project are obviously no threat to Shane Taylor Promotions, so this pretty much went the way I figured it would, but the match was perfectly passable for what it was.

AEW World Trios Champion Orange Cassidy and ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions Dalton Castle and The Outrunners def. Premier Athletes (Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari) and The Swirl

The entrances were almost as long as the actual match was, which is surprising because that's normally only ever an issue in WWE. Nonetheless, this was a fairly standard eight-man tag team match. The heels played their roles well and the babyfaces went over in predictable fashion. They're just killing time until The Lethal Twist challenge Castle and The Outrunners for the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship soon, presumably at Death Before Dishonor.

Overall Show

Apparently there are so many leftover matches taped before/after Dynamite and Collision that there needs to be an extra edition of ROH TV most weeks to make sure all of them air. Why not just tape less matches? Most of these don't amount to anything, anyway. Thankfully, this was a little less than 90 minutes, but it could've been significantly shorter had they cut the filler. It was an adequate episode but nothing you need to seek out whatsoever.
