Ring of Honor Review - June 16, 2026

ROH Women's World Television Champion Red Velvet def. Hyena Hera

I have no idea who Hera is, so it was strange that this was for the ROH Women's World Television Championship instead of just being a Proving Ground match. It made the outcome even more predictable, but I can't complain about Velvet defending her title, either. It was a fairly average outing for the time it was allotted. Hopefully Velvet doesn't keep spinning her wheels.

The Lethal Twist (The Swirl and Jay Lethal) and RPG Vice def. Spanish Announce Project and ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions Dalton Castle and The Outrunners

Teaming with Spanish Announce Project should have been an automatic loss for Castle and The Outrunners. I kid, of course, but Spanish Announce Project did stick out like a sore thumb in this match and it was logical for them to be the ones to eat the loss. That said, this was a nice effort from everyone involved. Lethal Twist winning should get them closer to contending for the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship.

Katsuyori Shibata def. Aaron Solo in a Pure Rules Match

The Opps are incredibly boring without Samoa Joe around. Shibata is obviously super talented, but he never really wins when it matters most, so these sporadic squashes are pointless if they don't amount to anything. This was a well-worked match and whatnot, but there was zero reason to give a crap about it because Shibata isn't all that interesting at the moment.

Marina Shafir def. Zayda Steel

The Death Riders are similar to The Opps in that one or two of their members will occasionally compete on ROH TV yet never be involved in anything of note. This was one of those instances. Shafir going over was hardly a surprise, but this felt more like an opportunity for Steel to show what she can do. They already faced off earlier in the year and the result was no different, but Steel is definitely making strides.

ROH World Television Champion AR Fox def. Tony Nese

I couldn't tell you the last championship Nese was a legitimate threat to (maybe the Cruiserweight Championship while he was in WWE?), so it was a foregone conclusion Fox was retaining the title here. Despite that, I thought they had a good main event. Fox defending the belt so frequently since winning it has been refreshing, and he'll do so again on Thursday's Global Wars edition of ROH TV in a three-way against Action Andretti and Lio Rush.

Overall Show

This was the second straight week Ring of Honor has run a special show on a Tuesday show, and again, I do not know why. If this is basically a newer version of AEW Dark, I'll pass. The ROH brand is difficult to get into as it is because nothing of value ever really happens these days, and adding an extra episode doesn't make much of a difference. There were two title matches on this show along with hype for the Global Wars edition coming up on Thursday, but otherwise, it was inconsequential.
