Ring of Honor Review - June 4, 2026

The Rascalz (Myron Reed and Zachary Wentz) def. Grizzled Young Veterans

This match brought back memories as The Rascalz (a.k.a. MSK at the time) had an amazing match with Grizzled Young Veterans in the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic back in 2021. Granted, that was Dezmond Xavier and not Reed, but it was pretty much the same dynamic. This was an enjoyable opener and a welcome reminder of what these teams are capable of.

Queen Aminata def. Lacey Lane

It felt like Aminata was building real momentum on AEW TV before being sidelined with an injury several months ago, so I hope she can pick up where she left off. Being back on ROH TV isn't exactly an encouraging sign, but it's a start, I suppose. I thought she and Lane had a nice little match here. They had a backstage segment later on where Lane asked for a third matchup. I have to assume Lane will win that one and possibly turn heel, because what's the point otherwise?

The Colons and Serpentico def. Kiran Grey, Alex Kane and Bruss Hamilton

The Colons have teamed up with Spanish Announce Project before, so this wasn't completely random. Granted, the fact they're teaming at all is random, but this match wasn't random, if that makes sense. It gave them a win and led to them later on talking about wanting to challenge for the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship. It was then announced they'll face Shane Taylor Promotions next week.

ROH Women's Pure Champion Deonna Purrazzo def. Isla Dawn in an ROH Women's Pure Championship Proving Ground Match

It was smart to have Dawn cut a backstage promo earlier in the episode. It didn't make her any more of a threat here, mind you, but it did make this match more meaningful, especially since we've seen Purrazzo have so many Proving Ground matches lately that and a lot of them have blended together. Although the outcome was never in doubt, I thought Dawn had an impressive outing.

Caprice Coleman Hosted a Sit-Down Interview with ROH Women's World Champion Athena

This was an extension of Coleman's sit-down interview with Athena from last week. This follow-up focused more on Athena's relationship with Billie Starkz, specifically the role she played in the Survival of the Fittest match at Supercard of Honor. They're doing an effective job of teasing more tension between the two, but as I've said before, it's difficult to care because they've been at odds on and off for so long.

"The Bounty Hunter" Bryan Keith def. "Dynamite Kid" Tommy Billington

It's interesting that Keith and Big Bill went from getting a team name not that long ago to no longer appearing together, right after it was reported that WWE wants to bring Bill back to reunite him with Enzo Amore. I don't think that's a coincidence. I'd love to see Keith get pushed on his own, and this win was slightly encouraging, but I'm not getting my hopes up. The match was well wrestled as you'd expect.

ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty def. Mance Warner in an ROH Pure Championship Proving Ground Match

Personally, I've never found Warner to be anything special as a singles wrestler (other than how he excels in extreme environments), but it's cool he's been getting opportunities to show what he can do in Ring of Honor. I wouldn't have minded him winning here to earn a title shot, but no such luck. The match was decent, and at least Moriarty had some actual competition for a change (as far as Proving Ground matches go).

Lio Rush def. Griff Garrison

As I've said before, Rush's gimmick is gradually growing on me. He's completely committed to the character and he's added more elements to it. More importantly, it's clicking with crowds, so as a result, he's getting more exposure in both ROH and AEW. This was a fairly basic showcase for him, but it gave him another win as he heads into his inevitable encounter with Action Andretti.

The Kingdom def. Bustah and The Brain

This was set up back at Supercard of Honor. Does The Kingdom winning mean they're here to stay? They were babyfaces when they were last on ROH TV, but they definitely came across like the heels here. I appreciate that Bustah and The Brain have been racking up victories recently, but this loss is fine if the idea is for them to eventually avenge the loss. It was a quality contest while it lasted.

ROH Women's World Champion Athena def. Hyan in an ROH Women's World Championship Proving Ground Match

Athena feuded with Maya World earlier this year, so I liked that she took on World's tag team partner here. I didn't think Hyan would survive the Proving Ground match as World did, but she had a solid showing in defeat. At this point, it feels like Athena is back to treading water before she and Starkz have their latest blowup, which should be soon because we're wasting time until then.

Overall Show

This was your run-of-the-mill edition of ROH TV where too many matches were packed in, making it needlessly lengthy. As is the case with almost every episode, it is not worth watching in its entirety, but there is some good stuff sprinkled throughout. The Athena and Starkz story is back to being the focal point of the program and I can only get so invested considering how long they've dragged that out for.
