Ring of Honor Review - March 12, 2026

ROH Women's World Champion Athena vs. Maya World in an ROH Women's World Championship Proving Ground Match Ended in a Time-Limit Draw

I appreciated that this got a bit of build, even though World isn't a player on her own. Of course, World was previously one of Athena's students, so that would explain why. They had a really good Proving Ground match where they made the most of the time limit and told the story that World may have beaten Athena had the time not expired. Of course, she's getting a title shot, regardless, but I understood what they were going for.

ROH Women's World Television Champion Red Velvet def. Hyan

All the focus being on World the last two weeks that poor Hyan, World's tag team partner, didn't get much hype for her title shot against Velvet here. I never thought for a second she'd actually take the title, but I thought she fared well for herself and the match was decent for as long as it lasted. Velvet's reign continues to suffer from not being interesting because she's having random matches with zero story.

ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor and The Infantry) def. Nick Comoroto, Aaron Solo and QT Marshall in an ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship Proving Ground Match

I'd love to know what earns someone a Proving Ground opportunity and what earns someone a championship opportunity. There's no rhyme or reason it seems. Nonetheless, this was a competitive contest, but Shane Taylor Promotions winning was the right call. I have no desire whatsoever to see The Factory reunite as it sucked the first time. It's worth noting that we found out Big Boom! A.J. will team with Marshall again on the Revolution Zero Hour pre-show this weekend.

ROH World Tag Team Champions La Faccion Ingobernable (The Beast Mortos and Sammy Guevara) def. The Colons

This was an open challenge from LFI to any pair of former tag team champions. The Colons were a pleasant surprising choice (they've popped up in TNA and the NWA over the last year or two), but why wouldn't any other team on the Ring of Honor roster accept? The match was fine, but the outcome was never in doubt. There's too many teams in ROH for LFI to not be feuding with one of them.

Premier Athletes (Stori Denali, Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari) def. Angelica Risk, Mark Davidson and Parker Li

This followed the same formula as every other Premier Athletes match from the last several months. They dominated a trio of people who aren't under contract and won in a matter of minutes. As I've said before, I have no idea what the endgame is supposed to be with them. They're still protecting Denali, but her picking up wins over "local athletes" will only get her so far.

Scorpio Sky def. "Bounty Hunter" Bryan Keith

This stemmed from SkyFlight crossing paths with Paid in Full on last week's episode. Both of these guys are talented and served as a reminder that they should be doing more in singles competition. It was a quality contest and they received an ample amount of time. Paid in Full and Grizzled Young Veterans attacked Sky and Christopher Daniels afterward to further the feud.

ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty def. Josh Woods

I completely forgot that these two previously faced off for the ROH Pure Championship last year. I can't say I'm shocked because Woods is primarily a Pure Rules guy and that's apparently his ceiling. This was another well-worked bout between the two, even though it was comical to think it'd last the full 60 minutes. It barely went over 10. We need to move on from Moriarty as the Pure Rules champ if he's going to keep facing the same people and not do anything out of the ordinary.

Overall Show

This was a successful second episode from the new studio and a vast improvement over last week's episode. There were less matches, more championships were up for grabs, and it was significantly shorter. It's not a show I'd strongly suggest you go out of your way to see, but for those of you who watch ROH TV regardless, it was far less of a chore to sit through this week. A special edition was also announced for Friday night on YouTube. Oh joy.
