CMLL World Women's Champion Persephone def. Lacey LaneI appreciated that we got to hear from Persephone and Lane via backstage interviews beforehand. It gave viewers a chance to connect with both women and get to know them a bit better. Lane did well with her promo, but I was especially impressed by Persephone. As I've said before, she's a total star. Of course, I never bought into the possibility of Lane taking the title, but I thought they had a nice match. SkyFlight (Zayda Steel and Top Flight) def. Isla Dawn and Grizzled Young VeteransNeedless to say, Steel has been the standout from SkyFlight so far. Her joining the group has benefited her way more than it has the other members. Granted, she loses more than she wins, but she's making the most of every opportunity she's given and I was glad she picked up the victory here. This was a well-worked six-person tag team match that furthered the feud between the two teams. Myron Reed def. MansoorIt hasn't been more than a few months and The Rascalz are already pulling Ring of Honor duty? Yikes. It's not the worst thing in the world, but I don't want them becoming regulars on this show. I don't even know what purpose this match was supposed to serve. Are we getting The Rascalz vs. MxM Collection out of it? Okay, sure. This was fine, but I can't say I cared very much. TMDK (Shane Haste and Mikey Nicholls) def. Better TogetherTMDK sticking around in ROH despite recently failing to win the ROH World Six-Man tag Team Championship is a pleasant surprise. They're a talented tandem and can be a welcome addition to the tag ranks. Better Together was an enhancement team, so the outcome was never in doubt, but this successfully served as a showcase for TMDK for as long as it lasted. ROH Women's Pure Champion Deonna Purrazzo def. Robyn Renegade in an ROH Women's Pure Championship Proving Ground MatchRenegade beating Rachael Ellering last week shocked me, but I guess we now know why she did. It made more sense for this to be a Proving Ground match than a title match. Renegade held her own in there, but it was obvious Purrazzo was winning (as she should have). I maintain the ROH Women's Pure Championship is pointless, but Purrazzo is doing what she can to make it mean something. Anthony Ogogo def. Nick ComorotoI'm always amazed whenever I see Ogogo in action because I genuinely forget he's still under contract. Has it really been almost five years since he feuded with Cody Rhodes and faced him at Double or Nothing? Sheesh. At any rate, I don't understand the point of trying to build him up as any sort of a threat at this point. That's what this bout was designed to do, but personally, I just found it boring. ROH Women's World Television Champion Red Velvet def. Trish AdoraWait, since when did Velvet turn face? I figured this was a heel vs. heel match until we saw Zayda Steel, who is definitely a babyface, made the save for Velvet afterward. That was strange. The match itself was solid. The ROH Women's World Television Championship continues to mean very little, but at least they set up something of a story with Velvet, Steel, Adora and Charlie XO. ROH Women's World Champion Athena def. Maya WorldThis got a fair amount of buildup, and while it was a great get for ROH TV, you could have easily held off on this until a bigger stage, like whatever ROH's next pay-per-view will end up being. Nonetheless, this was a damn good main event with World having a strong showing in defeat. I know she's in a team with Hyan at the moment, but World may have a future on her own eventually. Overall ShowIt was refreshing to have the ROH Women's World Championship defended on ROH TV for a change, and having the ROH Women's World Television Championship defended right before that wasn't bad, either. Throw in a defense of the CMLL World Women's Championship in the opener and this was very much a women-centric show. This edition of ROH TV was way too long at almost an hour and 45 minutes, but it was an average effort on the whole.
