Ring of Honor Review - May 7, 2026

Santana and Eddie Kingston def. ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions The Infantry

Kingston and Santana feel like the only team in Ring of Honor's tag team division that have any sort of momentum, mostly because Kingston is a bigger name compared to everyone else. As I've said before, I don't mind him and Santana teaming, but I maintain that Kingston is grossly underutilized. This was a nice opener and it looks like they could be gunning for the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship.

Josh Woods def. BEEF in a Pure Rules Match

Woods has been racking up wins in Pure Rules matches and now we know why. He'll be facing Nigel McGuinness at Supercard of Honor in a Pure Rules match. It isn't a shot at the ROH Pure Championship isn't on the line or anything, but I have to imagine him beating McGuinness would immediately put him in contention for the title. Anyway, this existed to give Woods a warm-up win before then.

Bang Bang Gang (Juice Robinson and Ace Austin) def. The Workhorsemen

This was one of those matches where I applaud the skills of those involved yet it had no story and I'm sure this isn't leading anywhere for either team. The wrestling was adequate, but Bang Bang Gang are basically killing time until Jay White is ready to return and The Workhorsemen have always been positioned as stepping stones. Unless Bang Bang Gang set their sights on the ROH World Tag Team Championship, this was a waste of time.

Action Andretti def. Nathan Cruz

I've been worried for Andretti on his own since he and Lio Rush randomly went their separate ways. He's a talented dude, but I just see him getting lost in the shuffle, even in ROH. I hope I'm wrong and they actually do have something planned for him considering he won here. There wasn't much to the match, of course, but him picking up a victory is a slightly encouraging sign.

Jordan Oliver and Alec Price def. The Frat House (Cole Karter and Griff Garrison)

Oliver and Price winning more matches is a massive positive. They're one of the only tandems in ROH's tag division that I see having a true upside, provided they're booked properly. They're two fresh faces and haven't been too damaged by the uninspired booking because it hasn't been long enough. This was less about the in-ring action and more about getting Oliver and Price another victory.

The Colons and Spanish Announce Project def. Alexander Lev, Hunter James and Better Together

The Colons have made a handful of appearances on ROH TV, but I'm confused as to whether they're supposed to be regulars or not. They actually appear more in the NWA than they do in ROH. Nonetheless, they worked well with Spanish Announce Project and it was a fine match, but it was really random unless The Colons are sticking around or if they're going to have an alliance going forward. I don't think either of those things are happening.

Premier Athletes (Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari) def. "Main Man" Oro and Kiran Grey

Oro being thrown in there in a jobber team was weird because he was in WWE for a few years as part of the NXT and NXT UK brands, so he has some name recognition and shouldn't be treated like your average "local athlete." He did help make this match slightly enjoyable than it would have been otherwise, but it didn't end up making a major difference. Nese and Daivari simply bore me to tears.

Caprice Coleman Hosted a Sit-Down Interview with Jay Lethal

These weekly sit-down interviews hosted by Coleman continue to be the best thing on ROH TV by far. He's excellent as an interviewer and brings the best out of whoever he's talking to. That was once again the case here with him and Lethal, who explained his reasoning for linking up with The Swirl. It was a better explanation than anything we've heard from him since his heel turn, which I appreciated.

ROH Women's World Television Champion Red Velvet def. Rachael Ellering in an ROH Women's World Television Championship Proving Ground Match

I couldn't tell you the last match Ellering won on ROH TV, so to say this was a foregone conclusion would be an understatement. Despite that, she's obviously experienced and can hold her own in the ring, so this was perfectly passable while it lasted. My bigger takeaway is that Velvet is not only improving but also finding her footing as a character. It's been cool to see.

Adam Priest and "Dynamite Kid" Tommy Billington def. Grizzled Young Veterans

Grizzled Young Veterans were getting a bit of a push there a few months ago while feuding with Eddie Kingston and Santana, but it didn't dawn on me until I saw them here that they haven't been around that much lately. That's disappointing but hardly surprising. At least they got to have a quality contest with Priest and Billington, who wrestle a rather similar style.

The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier, Zachary Wentz and Myron Reed) def. MxM TV (MxM Collection and Johnny TV)

The Rascalz have had a mini feud with MxM TV recently, so while this was technically more significant than most stuff on this show, it also wasn't worthy of the main event spot. If this is the best they could do for the main event, that's a problem. It was an acceptable outing with The Rascalz doing their thing and going over decisively, but they should be doing more than this in my opinion.

Overall Show

If you're one of those people who are clamoring for more and more matches on this show, bless you. I am not one of those people. In fact, I've been saying for years that shows like ROH TV and AEW Dark are at their best when they're not overloaded with pointless matches that don't amount to anything. It's almost the same shit every week. There ended up being some decent stuff on this episode, but not enough to leave me looking forward to Supercard of Honor next Friday.
