ROH Women's World Television Champion Red Velvet def. Allysin Kay in an ROH Women's World Television Championship Proving Ground MatchIt's a shame that Kay has yet to be signed to Ring of Honor's women's division. At this point, it's pretty clear it's never happening and that she'll only ever be used to put other people over. Oh well. She gave Velvet a decent match here. Velvet looked like she was moving in slow motion while hitting her finisher, though. Wasn't Velvet still feuding with Billie Starkz over the belt as of a few weeks ago? Whatever happened to that? The Gates of Agony def. Trip Jordy and Dante LeonGates of Agony adhered to the Code of Honor beforehand, so I guess that makes them babyfaces? I could've sworn they (along with Brian Cage) were heels as of a week or two ago, but whatever. This was a simple squash to give them a victory. It'd be nice if these victories led to them challenging for the ROH World Tag Team Championship, yet they haven't gotten a single shot at the belts in the last year. Preston Vance def. Brandon CutlerVance recently returned on ROH TV, so it looks like that's where he'll be rebuilt for the foreseeable future. I'm glad he beat someone on the roster for a change, but I could do without seeing Cutler featured, regardless of whether it's ROH or AEW. He hasn't served a purpose in ages and has very little to offer from an in-ring standpoint when AEW already has what feels like a thousand people under contract, but at least this was what it needed to be. John Silver def. K.M.This was bizarre. Silver was in total babyface mode here, yet he was back to being a heel with the rest of The Dark Order at the end of the episode. As a match, there technically wasn't anything wrong with this and I understand wanting to give guys like Silver an occasional win, but this felt pointless. Granted, this ended up being a short show (by recent ROH TV standards), but it could have been even shorter had this not taken place. Rachael Ellering def. Maggie LeeThe biggest pop of the match when Lee refused Ellering's pre-match handshake and the referee shook Ellering's hand instead. The match itself was serviceable and gave Ellering a momentum-building victory. I'd like to see her eventually work her way toward challenging for the ROH Women's World Television Championship and this was a fine first step in that direction. The Infantry def. Spanish Announce ProjectMaybe we've never seen this match on ROH TV before, but I feel like we have several times already. It's probably because these teams have been in the same spot for ages. The Infantry have challenged for the ROH World Tag Team Championship at least once, but it's difficult to bring myself to care about almost anything Spanish Announce Project is involved in. It was a well-worked match while it lasted. Anthony Ogogo def. Kit Sackett by Referee StoppageI'm sure I've said this countless times in the past, but I always forget Ogogo is on the roster until he pops up in a match every now and again. Yes, he joined Shane Taylor Promotions, but that hasn't made too much of a difference so far. This established his dominance, especially with the knockout finish, but I don't think anyone in the crowd took him seriously considering how quiet they were throughout. Brian Cage def. Deonn RusmanCage has spent more than enough time in the six-man tag team ranks. He's overdue for a renewed singles push. He's not going to get it in AEW, but ROH might be the perfect platform for him instead. He'd need some serious rebuilding, but I can absolutely see him in the ROH World Championship picture at some point. This was a standard showcase for him. ROH World Tag Team Champions Sammy Guevara and ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion Dustin Rhodes def. The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds and Evil Uno)The ROH World Tag Team Championship weren't in jeopardy of changing hands anyway, but the fact it's already been announced that Guevara and Rhodes will defend against The Undisputed Kingdom in a Bunkhouse Brawl on Saturday's Collision made the outcome even more obvious. Nonetheless, it was a competent main event. The champs were attacked afterward by Dark Order and Cage of Agony before the show abruptly ended. Okay, then. Overall ShowAbove all else, it was a massive positive that this show was only around an hour long as opposed to two, which has been the norm for the last two months. Granted, we roughly got the same amount of matches (they were much shorter than usual) and most of which were unnecessary, but the show was tolerable because of its brevity. ROH TV still suffers from not having a stable direction, consisting of meaningless matches and the occasional undercard feud that isn't consistently furthered.
