TNA World Champion Joe Hendry def. Jake SomethingWhile it was weird seeing a TNA World Championship match start the show instead of being positioned as the main event, I had no issue with it because it's not like anyone honestly thought Something was winning, anyway. They had a quality contest, but it wasn't so incredible that I wish it was saved for a live special. The Nemeth brothers came out afterward and Nic accidentally superkicked Santino Marella, so we'll see where that goes. I'm assuming a heel turn for him is imminent. Ash and Heather by Elegance def. The King BeesI'm aware of The King Bees from their time spent in NWA, where they held the NWA World Women's Tag Team Championship for a considerable amount of time. I thought it was cool that Tom Hannifan acknowledged that on commentary before this bout. They scored a fair amount of offense and the match was decent, but this seemed to exist solely to give Ash and Heather a win before they inevitably get another opportunity at the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championship. Frankie Kazarian def. Sami CallihanCallihan was attacked by Mance Warner while he was making his entrance and the match almost didn't happen as a result, but Callihan chose to compete anyway and logically lost within minutes. There wasn't much to the match, but it did give Kazarian a cheap win and further the feud between Callihan and Warner, including with their post-match brawl. Cora Jade def. Xia BrooksideJade is clearly next in line for a shot at the TNA Knockouts World Championship (most likely at Sacrifice next month), not to mention she'll be involved in the NXT Women's Championship match at WWE NXT Vengeance Day on Saturday night, so there was no question who was winning this one. I appreciated that it was a well-worked, competitive match and not just a straight-up squash for Jade. Wes Lee, Tyriek Igwe and Tyson Dupont Attacked Ace Austin and The RascalzThe Rascalz called out Lee and his crew, which led to Austin making the save to even the odds. The heels still stood tall, so now we're one step closer to getting that six-man tag team match we've been expecting for a few weeks. This has been a fine feud, but I figured Lee would be a part of something more meaningful at this point in his heel run instead of running it back with The Rascalz. He's practically spinning his wheels these days and I'm not sure he'd be booked much better on WWE's main roster. TNA Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich def. Savannah EvansI'm surprised they went right into this match without building it up a bit since Evans just earned the title shot last week and didn't feel like a legitimate threat even at that point. Nonetheless, they had a nice match with Slamovich having to fight from underneath to retain her title. Evans fared well for herself, but she doesn't need to be in championship contention for more than a one-off, especially with Jade waiting in the wings right now. Eric Young def. Josh AlexanderThis was always meant to be Alexander's TNA swan song. He and Young have had a handful of matches against each other in the last three years, but I don't think Young was ever able to beat Alexander until now. It's not like Alexander was putting over TNA's next big star on his way out (quite the opposite, actually), but the outcome made sense for the storyline and they had their usual good match together. Overall ShowMy enjoyment of iMPACT! has been fairly consistent over the last month. Despite TNA not having a live special for another month, they're filling the time well by progressing certain storylines, utilizing the working relationship with NXT and delivering entertaining action. This was a solid show and I'm excited for next week's live episode at Full Sail University.
