No Quarter Catch Crew (Charlie Dempsey, Myles Borne and Tavion Heights) def. The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz and Trey Miguel) and Kushida

I know No Quarter Catch Crew aren't exactly the biggest stars from WWE NXT, but they've fit in nicely in TNA the last few weeks. This was a really fun opener with all six competitors getting some time to shine. Jonathan Gresham caused Kushida's team to lose to further their feud, and No Quarter Catch Crew got another one up on The Rascalz. We found out in the Rascalz' "treehouse" afterward that all of The Rascalz (including Wes Lee) will take on No Quarter Catch Crew at Slammiversary. It was awesome to get them back in action together on Tuesday's NXT and it will be just as cool to see them back together in a TNA ring on Saturday.

Xia Brookside def. TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Champion Alisha Edwards

Edwards and Masha Slamovich will be defending the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championship against Spitfire at Slammiversary, so Brookside was a rather random opponent for Edwards and her win was an afterthought. This was all about furthering the tag team feud, which they managed to do with Spitfire running down to ringside toward the end. The match was fine for what it was.

"Speedball" Mike Bailey Won TNA X-Division Champion Mustafa Ali's Secret Service Gauntlet Match

Ali told Bailey that he'd give him a shot at the TNA X-Division Championship on this show if he could beat his "secret service" in a Gauntlet match, which also included Champagne Singh. Bailey won with ease, but Ali attacked him from behind instead. Obviously, we're getting the match at Slammiversary anyway and that was already advertised before they went this route, but I understand Ali trying to dodge Bailey because he sees him as a threat. It's basic booking, but it's worked well.

The Hardys def. TNA World Tag Team Champions The System (Eddie Edwards and Brian Myers) by Disqualification

This was the match I thought we were getting at Slammiversary, but obviously not. It came out of nowhere we haven't even seen Jeff Hardy make an appearance in front of the audience since Against All Odds last month. The match never got out of first gear before JDC caused the disqualification, leading to The System "injuring" Jeff. I assume they ran that angle because Jeff isn't allowed into Canada (where Slammiversary is being held) due to his past legal issues. What a bummer.

JDC def. Mike Santana by Disqualification

Not only did JDC interfere in the last match, he's also the reason why Santana wasn't able to qualify for Slammiversary a few weeks ago, so he's been all over the place lately. Their match here was okay, but nothing out of the ordinary. It was lame to run two disqualification finishes back-to-back, even if it was Santana who caused it. During the match, we saw Matt Hardy tend to his wife Reby Hardy backstage and her acting was atrocious. Matt will face JDC at Slammiversary.

The TNA World Championship Contract Signing Descended Into Chaos

In addition to Santino Marella, everyone in the six-way main event on Slammiversary was involved in this segment except for Nic Nemeth, who appeared via a video where he said he was injured with a torn labrum but will be cleared by Saturday. That was oddly edited. The rest of this was your typical wrestling contract signing. A.J. Francis coming out dragged it out a bit, but PCO brawling with him hyped that match. Hendry standing tall to close the show makes me think he isn't winning the title this soon and that Moose will retain to keep him in chase mode.

Overall Show

As a go-home show, this was an effective edition of iMPACT!. Everything on the advertised card received some attention and more matches were added at the last minute. The situation with Jeff Hardy is unfortunate because he just returned and can't even appear at Slammiversary, but I probably should've expected that given his history with not being able to appear in Canada. Hopefully TNA can deliver a strong show on Saturday to capitalize on the momentum they have at the moment thanks to the working relationship with NXT.
