Masha Slamovich Confronted Santino Marella; The System, Order 4, and Trick Williams & First Class Interrupted Each OtherMan, this was a whole lot of talking and it felt like it'd never end. The segment ended up being fine and furthered a few things, but I wish they could have cut down on the talking (maybe save Slamovich announcing she wants her TNA Knockouts World Championship rematch against Jacy Jane next week for later in the show in a backstage segment or something?). Multiple matches were set up, but the key takeaway was The System wanting to go to war with NXT over what happened at Slammiversary. Let's see how that goes. The IInspiration and Mara Sade def. The Elegance Brand (M by Elegance and TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Champions Ash and Heather by Elegance)I thought The IInspiration might recruit a fellow Aussie in Indi Hartwell as their mystery partner, so I was surprised to see the former Jakara Jackson instead. Is this the first time someone who previously appeared in TNA under a different name as part of the working relationship with NXT then debuted as a member of the TNA roster? She improved while teaming with Lash Legend, so we'll see what she brings to the Knockouts division. This was a fine match and The IInspiration's win sets them up for another opportunity at the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championship. TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater, TNA World Tag Team Champions The Hardys and TNA International Champion Steve Maclin Declared War on NXTI actually thought this was much more effective than what we got in the opening segment as far as establishing that TNA's top talent are declaring war on NXT. This was the only appropriate response after NXT stars left Slammiversary with the TNA World Championship and the TNA Knockouts World Championship. The other title holders taking exception to that was logical and I thought this was a good "rallying of the troops" type of segment. If they don't pop up on NXT soon, though, then that's an issue. Jake Something def. Mance Warner in a No Disqualification MatchFrom what I can tell of his work in MLW and now TNA, Warner seems to only excel in matches where there aren't any rules. He has a lot of hardcore matches and they're usually entertaining, but his standard singles matches don't do much for me, personally. Thus, giving this a No Disqualification stipulation was probably for the best. This was fun while it lasted and Something winning should get him closer to a one-on-one shot at the TNA International Championship. NXT Women's Champion and TNA Knockouts World Champion Jacy Jane Addressed the TNA Knockouts DivisionI'm still not a fan of Jane being the one to hold both the NXT Women's Championship and the TNA Knockouts World Championship (let alone one of them), but hopefully she can make the most of it and defends it somewhat regularly for as long as her reign lasts. This was a fairly basic promo from her addressing the Knockouts division, though it was kind of sad none of the names she insulted got much of a reaction. The Great Hands def. Matt Cardona and Brian MyersTom Hannifan mentioned on commentary that this marked the first time Cardona and Myers have teamed up in a regular two-on-two tag team match in over two years. This felt completely rushed and I would've preferred them holding off on it if the match was only going to be a few minutes. The Great Hands never really win, so this was a welcome win for them. I assume this means we're getting Order 4 vs. The System at some point, but where does Cedric Alexander (who lost to Mustafa Ali at Slammiversary) fit in? Mike Santana def. Joe HendryThis wasn't officially billed as a number one contender's match for the TNA World Championship, but it felt like it was implied. I figured this would've been saved for a future TNA+ special, but I have no complaints about it closing out the Slammiversary follow-up episode, especially with the clean finish we got. This was a top-notch main event and I appreciated that Santana won so he could reclaim some of the momentum he lost at Slammiversary. Overall ShowAs a rare live edition of iMPACT!, I expected a bit more from this show. Sure, it was said more than once that TNA wants to go to war with NXT over their top titles being held hostage and the main event was above-average, but the rest of the show wasn't anything out of the ordinary. After that lousy ending to Slammiversary, TNA needed a hot follow-up episode to correct course, and that's not what this episode was. I'm not giving up hope just yet because it entirely depends on how this "invasion" angle plays out (I'm skeptical), but time will tell. The road to Bound for Glory should be interesting, to say the least.
