TNA iMPACT! Review - July 3, 2025

The IInspiration def. Victoria Crawford and Tessa Blanchard

This wasn't a number one contender's match for the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championship, but it may as well have been with it subsequently being announced that The IInspiration will be getting the next shot at Slammiversary. The match was decent, but the focus was on Blanchard being busy with Indi Hartwell at ringside and that being what cost her the win. Blanchard has history with Hartwell from years ago, so that's a logical addition to the Slammiversary card.

Cedric Alexander Challenged Mustafa Ali to a Match at Slammiversary

The Order 4 drama hasn't done much for me personally, but getting Alexander involved was the best thing they could've done, especially considering their chemistry and how they go back almost a decade to the peak of WWE 205 Live. They even acknowledged that here, which made the segment more meaningful. I'm really looking forward to that match at Slammiversary.

TNA Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich def. Killer Kelly in a Chain Match

I'm still baffled that this was given away on such short notice with minimal build given their history as partners. It would have been better saved for Slammiversary, but then it was announced that Slamovich (who obviously retained) would be defending against the NXT Women's Champion in a Title vs. Title match at the pay-per-view instead. Now it makes sense. What we got here was well worked, but it wasn't what it could have been and the crowd was quieter than I thought they'd be. Disappointing.

Matt Cardona def. Eddie Edwards

Both of these guys are experienced and talented, so this could've been better with more time. What we got was good albeit brief. The story here was that Brian Myers preventing Edwards from cheating was what allowed Cardona to win, so we're getting closer to Cardona and Myers reuniting (Slammiversary would be perfect since the event emanates from Long Island, which is where they're from). Randomly, NXT's DarkState faction emerged afterward to lay out Cardona. No idea where that's supposed to be leading.

Jake Something vs. Mance Warner Ended in a No Contest

Similar to the opener, I'm surprised this wasn't billed as a number one contender's match for the TNA International Championship, especially with Steve Maclin sitting at ringside. He actually factored into the finish and caused the contest to be thrown out, though he did say backstage afterward that he'd be willing to defend his title against both of them in a three-way at Slammiversary. This match was nothing special prior to the non-finish because it didn't last long.

TNA World Tag Team Champion Nic Nemeth def. Zachary Wentz

Wentz filled in for Trey Miguel, who is apparently injured. Hopefully he's back in time for the newly-announced four-team Ladder match for the TNA World Tag Team Championship at Slammiversary. In the meantime, Myron Reed will be filling in for Reed, which I like because he's been an honorary member of The Rascalz in the past. This was a quality contest and Nemeth winning (with help) was the correct call.

TNA World Champion Trick Williams and Frankie Kazarian Attacked Joe Hendry and Mike Santana on The King's Speech

Kazarian has his own talk show now? Interesting. I'm not opposed to it, but they didn't do anything to make it feel like a talk show. Rather, the four guys were just standing in the middle of the ring taking turns talking. That said, the mic work was solid and they effectively hyped the three-way for the TNA World Championship at Slammiversary. I just don't know how the contract signing with Williams, Hendry and Santana at NXT The Great American Bash next Saturday will be any different.

Overall Show

I appreciate how the Slammiversary card has gradually come together and a lot of stuff has potential, so I'm excited for the event. The build has been well done and this was another efficient and enjoyable edition of iMPACT! in that regard. The Chain match being a total afterthought in the middle of the show was strange, and the rest of the show featured fairly basic booking, but no time was wasted with anything.
