Elijah def. Brian MyersThis felt like a match you would've seen on an episode of WWE Main Event back in 2019. To their credit, though, both guys have reinvented themselves since their days as enhancement talent in the other company. Myers was the perfect person for Elijah to beat in his first singles match in TNA and they had a good opener. It simultaneously served as a preview of the 10-man tag team match they'll be part of at Sacrifice. Steve Maclin Crashed First Class PenthouseThere were a lot less (F-list) celebrities on this installment of First Class Penthouse than there were for the first one, but I appreciated that it was kept shorter this time. A.J. Francis and KC Navarro did their usual shtick, but it didn't drag on for too long. Maclin coming out to interrupt was also kept brief and set up his match with Francis for a little later on. I don't know that this segment was necessary, but at least Maclin vs. Francis got a bit more buildup so it wasn't random. Savannah Evans def. Xia BrooksideEvans failed to win the TNA Knockouts World Championship last month, so this was designed to reestablish her dominance. The problem is, Evans has never been consistently dominant (nor is she great in the ring), so it's difficult to care about her. This was a decent match that benefited from the David vs. Goliath dynamite. I have no idea where either of them go from here unless this feud continues. Mike Santana def. John SkylerSantana wrecking dudes is always a blast to watch. The crowd is getting more and more behind him as a result and it's cool to see. This was a fairly average outing, but it accomplished what it needed to. Mustafa Ali popped up on the big screen afterward to inform Santana that he needed to take a urine test. Thankfully, we didn't get a repeat of the segment with Sheamus and Jeff Hardy from WWE SmackDown in 2020. A.J. Francis def. Steve MaclinI assumed this would be an easy win for Maclin (with Francis scoring some offense) before he battles Eric Young one-on-one at some point, so I was surprised to see Francis pick up the victory. Of course, it came with help from The Northern Armory, so it's not like he won clean. This was a well-worked match while it lasted. To my knowledge, Maclin vs. Young has yet to be added to Sacrifice, so it's possible they'll hold off until Rebellion or just have their match on iMPACT! one of these weeks. TNA X-Division Champion Moose Attacked NXT Champion Oba FemiThis segment started out with both men exchanging words across the ring from each other with "security" keeping them apart before it was revealed that the security was in The System's pocket and they attempted to attack Femi. I liked how Moose said he waited until Femi won the NXT Championship to target him and take the title. I also liked how Moose stood tall over Femi here, even though there's zero chance he defeats Femi for the belt at NXT Roadblock this Tuesday. The Northern Armory (Eric Young, Judas Icarus and Travis Williams) def. Ace Austin and The RascalzI figured Maclin would return the favor from earlier and cost Northern Armory this match, but apparently not. Austin and The Rascalz are the ones will a six-man tag team match on deck at Sacrifice, so it was strange that they lost, even if Wes Lee's crew got involved at the end. Regardless, this was an enjoyable, nicely-paced affair that put more heat on the two heel trios. Lei Ying Lee Saved TNA Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich From Tessa Blanchard and Cora JadeObviously, this was taped before Jade was seemingly injured on Tuesday's NXT (in an update, Jade posted on X that her knee is fine, so hopefully she won't have to miss much action). I don't know what that means for Jade vs. Slamovich at Sacrifice, but I suppose we'll find out for next week. This was a simple segment to further the feuds involved and hype two different Sacrifice matches (while also planting more seeds for Slamovich vs. Blanchard down the road). TNA World Tag Team Champions The Hardys def. The Colons by Disqualification (Non-Title)The Hardys and The Colons were on opposite ends of an eight-man tag team match in 2017 on WWE Raw, but otherwise, this was a first-time-ever encounter. Was this worthy of the main event spot? No, but it became clear afterward why it was slotted last. This was okay but too short to be anything out of the ordinary. Santino Marella then announced that the 10-man tag team match will happen inside of a cage. Tom Hannifan said that'll be TNA's first cage matchup in years, which sounds crazy but I have to imagine that's true. Overall ShowThere were quite a few matches on this edition of iMPACT!, but nothing that really resonated with this viewer. Rather, most of it was meant to build toward Sacrifice next Friday (and even Roadblock on Tuesday), so in that respect, this was an effective episode. There's nothing I would recommend going out of your way to watch, but pretty much everything served a purpose and it was a solid show on the whole.
