TNA World Champion Trick Williams, TNA World Tag Team Champion Matt Hardy, TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater and Indi Hartwell Interrupted TNA International Champion Frankie Kazarian and TNA Knockouts World Champion Kelani Jordan on The King's Speech; Slater, Hardy and Hartwell def. Kazarian, Williams and JordanYes, this was quite the star-studded opening segment with a lot of champions. The talking stuff was solid and not only built toward Showdown on Tuesday but also Bound for Glory next weekend. The subsequent six-person tag team match was also good. Granted, Jordan vs. Hartwell was the only feud furthered, but everyone worked well together and they filled the time nicely. Angel Warriors def. Kat Von Heez and Ava LawlessI've been digging the team of Xia Brookside and Lei Ying Lee and I'm glad they now have a team name. It definitely feels like a run with the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championship is in their future. This was a pretty standard showcase for them, but it served its purpose and was kept short and sweet with Angel Warriors winning decisively as they should have. Nic Nemeth def. The Home Town ManHome Town Man's been winning a lot since coming back under the mask, so him losing to a former TNA World Champion won't kill whatever momentum he has. They had a decent match. It didn't last long, but I don't think it needed to. My bigger issue is, does anyone honestly care about The Nemeths feuding with Home Town Man and Matt Cardona? Is this actually building to anything or will they just end up in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet Battle Royal at Bound for Glory? Alisha Edwards def. Tasha SteelzI wasn't sure if Edwards and Steelz would be included in the Hardcore War match with the rest of The System and Order 4 at Bound for Glory, but it was confirmed here that they will be. I didn't have high hopes for this match, so it was probably for the best that it was kept on the shorter side. Mustafa Ali won the advantage match against Moose at Victory Road, so The System got some momentum back with Edwards winning here. The IInspiration def. The Elegance Brand (Heather and M by Elegance) to Win the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team ChampionshipIf you caught NXT on Tuesday night, this outcome was already spoiled for you by Jordan during her promo at the end of the night. Nonetheless, they had a quality main event. I couldn't tell you the last time a TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championship match closed an episode of iMPACT!, so that made this feel like a big deal. You'd think they would've saved the title change for Bound for Glory since it's in a little over two weeks, but this was probably always planned for Victory Road before it got bumped. Overall ShowThis edition of iMPACT! had a long going for it coming off Victory Road, the announcement of their involvement with NXT Showdown next Tuesday, and Bound for Glory happening on October 12th. In addition to everything discussed above, there was also a TNA rah-rah speech from Tommy Dreamer and an awesome video package with Mike Santana getting a pep talk from Amazing Red. This was an entertaining and slightly newsworthy show that opened and closed strong.
