TNA iMPACT! Wrestling Review - May 8, 2025

TNA World Champion Joe Hendry Interrupted Trick Williams

If it wasn't already evident, Williams is fully in heel mode at this point, unless he'll just be a heel in TNA but more of a tweener in NXT. Either way, he played his role well here and his mic work was solid. Henry ran through the security Williams set up but wasn't able to get his hands on Williams, so this was a nice way to further their feud before their TNA World Championship clash at NXT Battleground.

Lei Ying Lee def. Rosemary

This felt more like an angle than a true match, designed to further the storyline with Rosemary and Xia Brookside with Brookside attempting Rosemary's attempt to cheat. As I've said before, I don't know if the endgame is for them to feud or become partners, but I appreciate that we're getting a non-title story with the women to keep them busy. The match itself was too short to actually be anything.

Aztec Warriors def. The Great Hands

The Good Hands being renamed The Great Hands because of their stable with Mustafa Ali is a clever touch. Meanwhile, Aztec Warriors are a quality addition to TNA's tag team division. This was a fairly basic bout, but it gave Aztec Warriors a momentum-building victory. The Rascalz making the save for Aztec Warriors afterward served as a seamless segue into Ali vs. Trey Miguel.

Mustafa Ali def. Trey Miguel

Both of these guys are super talented, so unsurprisingly, they had a very enjoyable outing in the time they were allotted. The chaotic closing stretch was fun and Ali winning made the most sense coming off his loss at Rebellion to Mike Santana. A six-man tag team match with Ali and The Great Hands against some combination of Rascalz and Aztec Warriors seems to be the next step.

TNA World Tag Team Champions The Nemeths Interrupted The Hardys

I don't think the fact Jeff Hardy can't travel to other countries because of his past legal issues has ever been publicly acknowledged on the air, so I thought it was funny that The Nemeths incorporated that into their excuse as to why they can't defend against The Hardys at Under Siege. Instead, Santino Marella declared The Nemeths will take on Matt Hardy and a partner of his choosing at his event. This accomplished what it needed to.

Victoria Crawford def. Brittnie Brooks

What a mess this whole thing was. The match itself was thankfully short, but it looked like Brooks was doing a lot of the heavy lifting. I don't know how much wrestling the former Alicia Fox has done since her WWE departure years ago, but it's not like she was all that great before she semi-retired, either. Masha Slamovich is going to have her work cut out for her at Under Siege. Speaking of Slamovich, Marella originally announced that she'd be able to pick her partner when she faces Crawford and Tessa Blanchard in a tag team match next week, but then Robert Stone he'd be picking her partner and said it'd be... Nikkita Lyons. I don't understand. If Lyons is supposed to be a threat, why would Stone make her Slamovich's partner? And if not, is the idea that Lyons is a crappy partner (because she is)?

TNA International Champion Steve Maclin def. Eric Young in a Dog Collar Match

Maclin and Young just had the first match of their feud at Rebellion less than two weeks ago and this felt like the blow-off. While I figured it would've been saved for Under Siege, it was cool to see them spotlighted in the main event, giving the new belt a bit more prestige in the process. The timing of this was interesting considering it was recently reported that TNA was going to be moving away from excessive use of blood on their shows, yet this was a pretty bloody affair. This may have been the last one for a while. This lived up to the stipulation and was a worthwhile main event.

Overall Show

It feels like we just had Rebellion and already TNA is putting together a decent card for Under Siege, which happens in two weeks from tomorrow. This was your usual efficient edition of iMPACT! featuring a welcome mix of wrestling, storyline advancement and event hype. The stuff with Crawford did nothing for me personally, but otherwise, I was into everything else on the show and thought they capped it off really well with that main event.
