The Hardys Attacked The Righteous and TNA World Tag Team Champions The System

This was a fairly straightforward squash to build toward the Ladder match for the TNA World Tag Team Championship at Slammiversary. There wasn't anything out of the ordinary about it, but everyone played their roles well. We found out a little later on in the show that The Great Hands have also been added to make it a Fatal 4-Way. It's going to be a demolition derby regardless, so why the hell not?

Mara Sade def. TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Champion M by Elegance by Disqualification

It was originally supposed to be Ash by Elegance taking on Sade, but Ash basically crashed out in a promo beforehand, leading to M replacing her. What we got wasn't very good, so thankfully, it only lasted a few minutes. The disqualification finish was lame, though. There isn't any harm in one-half of the women's tag champs losing to Sade. The post-match chaos concluded with Indi Hartwell and DemonXBunny helping Sade fend off The Elegance Brand and Elayna Black.

A.J. Francis def. Manny Lemons

Francis is facing Elijah at Slammiversary, so this was designed to be a quick squash for him before then to further establish his dominance (or at least whatever dominance he has at this point). In other words, it was exactly what it needed to be. Elijah popped up on the big screen afterward to tell Francis that his name and likeness will be on the line in their match on Sunday, so it will have some stakes for anyone who actually cares.

Xia Brookside def. Harley Hudson

With Myla Grace now gone from TNA, Hudson's chances of getting ever pushed (which were slim to begin with) are pretty much zero. I simply don't see the company doing anything with her on her own. That's why it was weird why this was such a competitive contest. It was well worked and whatnot, but the timing was terrible since Brookside is challenging for the TNA Knockouts World Championship this weekend. This didn't exactly make her look like a threat.

Eddie Edwards and Alisha Edwards Confronted Moose and JDC

With Eddie and Moose set for a No Surrender match at Slammiversary, it made sense for them to have one final face-off before then. This did an effective job of playing up their animosity and making the matchup more meaningful. Alisha was more annoying than usual, so with JDC also going to be in Moose's corner on Sunday, I wouldn't be shocked if he'll be the one to give her the comeuppance she's overdue for.

Frankie Kazarian, Mr. Elegance and TNA X-Division Champion Cedric Alexander def. Leon Slater, KC Navarro and Fabian Aichner

All six of these guys will be in the Ultimate X match for the TNA X-Division Championship at Slammiversary, along with the returning Amazing Red. This was all action and I appreciated that they kept the pace consistent throughout. I have no issue with Kazarian winning for his team here, but it's interesting that Slater keeps racking up losses. That makes me think he'll be on his way out of TNA sooner rather than later.

TNA World Champion Mike Santana Attacked Ryan Nemeth and Interrupted Nic Nemeth

Santana and Nic had a sit-down earlier in the night and I thought it was well done. This just felt like an excuse to get them out in front of the live crowd, with Santana attacking Ryan before running out into the crowd before Nic could do anything. It was a rushed way of closing the show and it didn't feel like a necessary angle, but to their credit, they've made their mini feud more heated in a short span of time.

Overall Show

Despite having months to build toward Slammiversary, TNA made most of the matches official in the last few weeks. As long as the show delivers, that's all that matters. As for this edition of iMPACT!, it was a thumbs-up effort as they successfully hyped up what we're getting this weekend. The first hour was fine at best, but the second hour was hotter with better action and segments.
