Eric Young def. EC3 in a No Disqualifications MatchAlthough this was a well-worked No Disqualifications match, I feel like we see so many of these in TNA as well as in other companies that this one felt tame in comparison. It was a good way to start the show with a bang, but Young winning was certainly questionable as EC3 just came back. I don't really see the point in attempting to give Young a renewed push when his spot is solidified at this point. Elayna Black, Ash by Elegance and Indi Hartwell Interrupted Each OtherThese three took turns staking their claim at the TNA Knockouts World Championship. I'm glad the TNA Knockouts World Championship scene is heating up again, but none of them have done anything of note recently to earn an opportunity. Black lost her feud to Mara Sade and I couldn't tell you the last time Hartwell or especially Elegance won a match that was meaningful. The mic work in this segment wasn't exactly the strongest. Hartwell would've made the most sense to challenge Arianna Grace for the title next if Grace didn't lose the title later in the night. TNA World Tag Team Champions (Bear Bronson and Brian Myers) def. KC Navarro and Nic NemethNavarrao and Nemeth have been established as allies in recent weeks, so it was cool they were able to team up here and challenge for the tag titles. Granted, it was rather random because this didn't have much build, but despite never expecting them to win, I thought this was a fun match for the time it was allotted. I'm just surprised A.J. Francis didn't interfere to cost Navarro and Nemeth the victory. Moose and TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater def. The System (Eddie Edwards and Cedric Alexander)Slater and Moose previously lost to The System in a four-on-two Handicap match, so this was a must-win situation for them. Plus, it furthered the feuds between Slater and Alexander as well as Moose and Edwards, especially ahead of Slater vs. Alexander next week for the TNA X-Division Championship. This received plenty of time and the action was entertaining. Daria Rae Interrupted TNA World Champion Mike SantanaSantana was cutting a quality promo about his successful title defense against Rich Swann when Rae interrupted to inform him that he'll found out his next challenger by way of a Battle Royal next week. It was an awkward exchange because the segment just suddenly ended after that. TNA hasn't quite figured out how to utilize Rae as an authority figure when it comes to structuring these segments. Lei Ying Lee def. Arianna Grace to Win the TNA Knockouts World ChampionshipThe booking of the Knockouts title picture continues to be an absolute mess. This was a nice moment for Lee, but I have no idea why she lost the title in the first place. Why wouldn't Xia Brookside have gotten involved to cost her the win? There was nothing wrong with the match, but Grace's reign was a waste of time if this was what they were going to do. It's clear they're figuring this all out on the fly. Overall ShowThe title change at the end made this edition of iMPACT! more eventful than it would have been otherwise. Everything else was solid I'm curious if TNA actually has an idea of where they're headed with certain stars and storylines going into Slammiversary because some stuff feels disjointed at the moment, but at least there's been setup for a few upcoming matches before then.
