WWE Main Event Review - July 11, 2024

WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Alba Fyre def. Ivy Nile

On one hand, getting any champion in action on Main Event is a nice boost for the show. On the other hand, it's not exactly an encouraging sign that the champion is involved in anything meaningful at the moment, which is exactly the case with Fyre and Isla Dawn. They won the titles a month ago and have yet to defend them. They've teased matches with Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark, Damage CTRL, and Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill, but they still aren't over. This was a perfectly fine match to get Fyre back in the ring, if nothing else.

The Creed Brothers def. The LWO (Joaquin Wilde and Dragon Lee)

This was a rematch from last week where Wilde and Lee beat the Creeds. This was another nice outing with all four guys having solid showings. The Creeds upped the intensity and picked up their first win in about a month. I wouldn't mind a rubber match in the coming weeks, though we may not get one if they turn heel and join Chad Gable before then (they were shown interacting in the background again on Raw this past week).

Overall Show

This was a par-for-the-course edition of Main Event. Nile vs. Fyre felt like a fresh match (maybe we've gotten it some other time in the last few months, I honestly don't remember) and the Creeds vs. LWO was once again well wrestled, but it was more of the same on the whole. Both bouts were decent, but there isn't anything worth seeking out from this episode from an in-ring standpoint.
