WWE Night of Champions Review - June 27, 2026

Oba Femi def. Jey Uso in the Finals of the King of the Ring

Well, this really wasn't much of a match, was it? That isn't to say Uso got completely squashed (Uso scored his fair share of offense), but this was over in a matter of minutes. Realistically, it should have been, but it made for a disappointing finals to what's been a disappointing tournament. The important thing is that Femi went over as he should have. He was always the right winner of this tourney, but I have no idea what this means for his feud with Brock Lesnar going into SummerSlam.

IYO SKY def. Women's World Champion Liv Morgan in the Finals of the Queen of the Ring (Non-Title)

SKY and Morgan have long had nice chemistry together and this was another enjoyable outing from them. Granted, it wasn't a banger worthy of closing out this tournament, but it was much better than Femi vs. Uso, that's for sure. I'm happy SKY went over, but she immediately announced that she's challenging Morgan for the Women's World Championship at SummerSlam, so we're going to get this again at that event. That's not very interesting at all.

Seth Rollins def. Bron Breakker in a Steel Cage Match

Despite the stipulation (which did make sense from a storyline standpoint), I actually thought this was the weakest of the three matches they've had since Backlash. It definitely started slow, and the weapons weren't necessary (the cage should sell itself), but it picked up as it progressed and turned into a very good match. I assumed Rollins was winning, so I wasn't shocked when he did, but Breakker losing this feud is such a head-scratcher. He's lost so much momentum in the last six months or so and I have no idea what they have planned for him from here.

United States Champion Trick Williams def. Ricky Saints

Saints has come across well in this rivalry for the United States Championship and I'm glad he got this opportunity on the premium live event, but truthfully speaking, the crowd sat on their hands for a majority of this match. It was well worked and whatnot, but there also wasn't anything out of the ordinary about it for the crowd to get overly excited about. Williams winning decisively and Lil Yatchy laying out Saints afterward tells me the feud is done, but time will tell.

Women's United States Champion Tiffany Stratton def. Jade Cargill

Stratton and Cargill's matches together tend to be hit or miss, and I thought this fell more in the latter category because of how forgettable it was. To their credit, they kept the pace consistent throughout and it was all action, but it was clearly leading to Charlotte Flair costing Cargill the victory and that's exactly what happened. That said, this could've easily been saved for SmackDown.

Sami Zayn def. Cody Rhodes and Gunther in a Triple Threat Match to Win the Undisputed WWE Championship

This was the best bout of the show and it wasn't even close. This was fantastic stuff and it helped that any one of them could have realistically won at any point, making the nearfalls that much more suspenseful down the stretch. The crowd was invested from start to finish and popped big for Zayn surprisingly taking the title. I appreciate that it was Rhodes who he pinned, too. I'm not confident he'll hold it for long, but at least he got his moment. This is the sort of swerve WWE needs to do more often.

Overall Show

This was very much a middle-of-the-road show up until the main event and the title change at the end. The crowd came alive for the bigger stars, but they were largely quiet for the two U.S. title matches. It was an acceptable event on the whole that was made more significant by the SummerSlam developments, but if you have time for any one match, it's absolutely the Triple Threat.
