WWE NXT Level Up Review - December 20, 2024

Joe Coffey def. Keanu Carver

​We haven't seen a whole lot of Carver in the ring, but he's been impressive and has shown signs of potential. It was smart to put him up against someone as experienced as Coffey because he's only going to get better that way. This was an enjoyable, hard-hitting hoss fight between these two with Carver scoring an ample amount of offense before eating defeat. Gallus failed to win the NXT Tag Team Championship on Tuesday's NXT, so it feels like they're finally main roster bound.

Lainey Reid def. Kendal Grey

Reid has been a breakout star on Level Up in the second half of 2024 and has made the most of every appearance she's made on the show. Hopefully the success she's had on Level Up can translate to NXT TV soon. Grey continues to come off as generic to me, but she had a solid showing here in what was an average outing. Chaos ensued with the women of Level Up afterward, so it looks like we might be getting a six-woman tag team match for the final episode next week.

Overall Show

Dante Chen announced at the end of the show that next week will mark the final edition of Level Up and that he'll be competing in an open challenge Gauntlet match because of his history on the program. Level Up has found its footing as a platform for the developmental talent this year, but you won't see me complaining about WWE doing one less show each week. Cancel Main Event next, please! At any rate, this was a thumbs-up episode with two quality matches along with one being confirmed for next week and another being teased.
