Wendy Choo def. Wren SinclairChoo's last televised match was almost exactly a year ago as she's been out injured this whole time. Unfortunately, she's still doing the stupid sleepy character. I know she's a fan favorite with this Performance Center crowd and they welcomed her back with open arms, but it's one of those terrible holdover gimmicks from the NXT 2.0 days that shouldn't have a place in the current NXT. That's nothing against Choo as a competitor, though, because she's actually quite talented. This was a basic bout, but I assume that was the point as Choo looks to work off ring rust. Josh Briggs def. Cutler JamesThe timing of this match was perfect because I actually just finished that WWE: Next Gen show on The Roku Channel this week. Had I waited any longer to finish it, this would've spoiled that James got signed at the end of it. The commentators acknowledged that he was on a "reality show" but didn't mention it by name. James was one of the standouts from that show and I thought he held his own here. Briggs dominated a majority of the match, but that was to be expected. Despite how solid James is in the ring, I can't see him getting over with that community leader/next-door neighbor gimmick. That's pretty lame. The D'Angelo Family (Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo and Luca Crusifino) def. Dion Lennox and Dante ChenLennox and Chen continue to team up, which is probably the best thing for Lennox at this point as Chen has been around for a while and Lennox can learn a thing or two from teaming with him. The D'Angelo Family are obviously the ones on a roll right now, so the outcome was never in doubt, but they had a competent contest and the crowd was into the action for as long as it lasted. Overall ShowFrom an in-ring standpoint, there wasn't anything worth seeking out from this episode. All three matches were fairly straightforward and although the main event was the best of the bunch, even that was an average outing. However, I'd say this was a significant show by Level Up standards with Choo returning to the ring and James' debut. Choo is bound to be back on NXT TV shortly, and hopefully James can keep getting reps on Level Up.
