WWE NXT Level Up Review - October 25, 2024

Mark Coffey def. Dion Lennox

Gallus' war with the NXT developmental rookies continues, and once again, Gallus has reigned supreme. It was hardly a surprising outcome, but at least it was another well-worked match. Lennox loses a lot, but the hope is that he's benefiting from facing seasoned talent and gaining something even in defeat. Shiloh Hill and Cutler James made the save for Lennox afterward, so a six-man tag team match appears to be imminent.

Izzi Dame def. Tyra Mae Steele

Steele sounded like she was reading directly off a script during her backstage interview beforehand, but she's still new, so I'm sure she'll improve in time. I've actually been more impressed with her in-ring ability and charisma, which is more than I can say for Dame. Dame isn't awful by any means, but she's been around for a bit now and still has yet to click as a character. She also hasn't had any standout matches. This was perfectly passable, though.

Dante Chen and Drake Morreaux def. Kale Dixon and Uriah Connors

Dixon continues to come off as extremely generic to me, but I think Connors has potential. We just have to hear from him a bit more. This was a solid showing for all involved. Chen is obviously the most experienced of the four, so getting him in there was smart. This wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but it was a quality main event that saw the babyfaces get their moment with the win.

Overall Show

This was an average edition of Level Up and there's nothing wrong with that whatsoever. The first two matches were pretty much what you'd expect and the main event was the best of the bunch, even though it was standard stuff. As WWE's developmental show, it served its purpose, but I always appreciate storyline development and we got some of that in the opener as part of Gallus' feud with the up-and-comers.
