Thea Hail and Jaida Parker def. Evolve Women's Champion Nikkita Lyons and Karmen PetrovicParker and Hail have become fast friends in recent weeks and have developed a nice chemistry as partners. It's also been refreshing to see Hail involved in something more significant for a change instead of barely being featured. The outcome was never in doubt since Lyons and Petrovic are glorified stepping stones for Nattie, but it was a good, well-paced match. NXT Champion Tony D'Angelo, Grayson Waller and Cruz Montana Interrupted Each OtherThis was essentially an extension of what we got last week from these three and I thought all of their promos were strong here. D'Angelo was probably the least impactful of the three, but his mic work was still solid. Waller and Montana came off really well and did an effective job of setting up their number one contender's match for next week's show with the winner challenging D'Angelo at Heatwave. WWE Women's Speed Champion Wren Sinclair vs. NXT Women's North American Champion Zaira Ended in a Time-Limit Draw (NXT Women's North American Championship Was Not Defended)This pretty much went exactly as I expected it to with them battling to a time-limit draw. It was competitive for a five-minute match and what we got was decent, but as is always the case with these Speed matches, it was too short to be anything memorable. Per the agreed-upon stipulation, since Sinclair retained her title here, she will face Zaria for the NXT Women's North American Championship next week. Tavion Heights and NXT North American Champion Myles Borne def. The Vanity Project (Ricky Smokes and Brad Baylor) to Win the NXT Tag Team ChampionshipColor me surprised. Borne and Heights actually won the NXT Tag Team Championship. I figured they'd lose and then we'd get the split immediately afterward, but apparently not. The match itself was entertaining and the crowd popped for the title change. This might be a brief reign for Borne and Heights as I assume the endgame is still the same with one of them eventually betraying the other. Keanu Carver def. EK ProsperProsper previously scored two upset wins over Carver, so this was a must-win situation for Carver. It's worth noting he won with a small package as opposed to in dominant fashion, which might hint at him leaning more babyface going forward. It's an interesting approach. As for the match, it was on par with their other encounters in that it was fun and given an ample amount of time. NXT Women's Champion Kendal Grey def. Lola Vice in an NXT Underground MatchDespite Vice being undefeated in NXT Underground matches coming into this contest, Grey retaining her title was virtually a lock with Vice headed to the main roster imminently. This was a hell of a way for Vice to put over Grey on her way out. I thought this was more exciting than some of the other NXT Underground matches with the way it was structured, especially when it came to the finishing sequence. This was a worthy sendoff for Vice. Overall ShowThe quality of NXT TV seems to have picked up in recent weeks with the arrival of some fresh and familiar faces. We got a notable main event this week as well as a title change. The rest of the show flowed well and moved some stuff forward as Heatwave gets closer. I hope they don't announce a bunch of matches for that card at the last minute, but at least NXT TV has been holding my attention more than usual.
