NXT North American Champion Tony D'Angelo def. Ridge Holland

D'Angelo has flown under the radar as the North American champ because he hasn't done anything overly special during this reign. Most of it has been spent in a storyline with Shawn Spears' crew and I don't think a single person has cared about that. He and Holland had a solid opener and Holland was protected in defeat due to the shenanigans at ringside. Then again, is it worth it to protect Holland at this point? He's essentially a stepping stone.

Bayley and NXT Women's Champion Giulia Attacked Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade

Bayley has certainly been making the rounds as of late as she appeared on last week's Raw, NXT and SmackDown as well as Monday's Raw and now NXT again. We're obviously headed for a match between her and Perez and I have to imagine it will happen at Vengeance Day, but I'd prefer to see it play out on the main roster and have that be how Perez gets her official call-up. This was a good exchange between these women with the heels getting a ton of heat. Giulia and Bayley will battle Perez and Jade in a tag team match next week in Atlanta.

Wes Lee def. Dion Lennox

Lee had Tyson Dupont and Tyriek Igwe with him, so that appears to be a permanent pairing and I'm not complaining. We'll see how much chemistry they develop as a trio, but at the very least, Dupont and Igwe are a nice addition to Lee's act as a heel and they're guaranteed to get more television time than they were getting previously. Lennox scored some offense here, but otherwise, this was a pretty standard squash for Lee. Trick Williams fended him off afterward, setting up a match between them for next week.

NXT Heritage Cup Champion Lexis King def. Charlie Dempsey

Man, I'm so tired of this feud. This was the fourth match they've had in the last two months. I appreciate King's character development, but he really needs to move on from working with No Quarter Catch Crew. Based on the finish, is he leaning back into his heel ways? I guess time will tell. As a match, this was well wrestled, but the Heritage Cup stuff continues to be uninteresting to me.

Karmen Petrovic def. Jaida Parker

I'm stunned we haven't seen more of Parker on NXT TV since her loss to Lola Vice at Deadline. She was a breakout star in NXT's women's division last year, so she should be doing more. This was decent, but the crowd sounded quiet, likely because they didn't know who to cheer for. Petrovic is a babyface, but Parker is a fan favorite. I wasn't a fan of the finish as I feel like I saw that exact same thing during a previous Parker match not too long ago.

Niko Vance and Brooks Jensen def. The D'Angelo Family (Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo and Luca Crusifino)

This stemmed from these guys brawling at ringside during D'Angelo's title defense. As I mentioned earlier, the trio of Spears, Jensen and Vance does very little for me. The idea of Spears leading a group has potential, but Vance has been a generic henchman so far and Jensen is... well, Jensen. As a match, this was perfectly passable, but the win doesn't make me view the heels as any more of a threat.

NXT Champion Oba Femi def. Eddy Thorpe

Thorpe has made the most of his sudden main event push and has come into his own as a heel, but although this was a logical match to do after Femi attacked Thorpe backstage at New Year's Evil, no one legitimately thought Thorpe had a chance in hell of taking the title here. Despite that, this was a quality main event. Williams confronting Femi afterward seemed to confirm the obvious: Williams will get his championship rematch with Femi at Vengeance Day.

Overall Show

I'm surprised NXT will be back on the road next week in Atlanta with Vengeance Day coming up quickly as there should be more focus on that event. Nonetheless, this was an average edition of NXT TV with three title matches that helped make it a bit more meaningful. Granted, the outcomes of those matches were all predictable, but it was an enjoyable enough episode to endure for two hours. On a side note, it's worth noting that Corey Graves was back on commentary this week, so he must have patched things up with WWE after his social media outburst last week. Can we get rid of Booker T and make it a two-man booth with Graves and Vic Joseph? Please and thank you.
