Jaida Parker def. Jazmyn Nyx

Nyx is obviously still a work in progress, but she isn't going to get better without reps, so this was a necessary match for her to have. Granted, there wasn't much to it, but it was perfectly passable while it lasted. More importantly, by beating one of Jacy Jane's minions, this got Parker one step closer to challenging for the NXT Women's Championship.

TNA World Champion Trick Williams and The High Ryze Attacked Je'Von Evans

The end of NXT last week hinted at Evans setting his sights back on the NXT Championship, so it was strange when Williams interrupted Evans here instead. I know Evans made it clear that Oba Femi is the one he's gunning for, but I don't have much interest in Williams getting involved when his focus should solely be on the TNA World Championship. This was a fine segment that existed to get to Lee vs. Wes Lee later on in the night.

Tavion Heights def. Charlie Dempsey

I had no issue with these two running it back, but it was weird that it had the exact same stipulation as the last time they met. Why not have Heights put something on the line as well so the outcome wasn't as obvious? Despite that, this was a well-wrestled match. Hopefully Heights will be allowed to shine on his own and doesn't get lost in the shuffle. I'm also curious what this means for No Quarter Catch Crew now that he's down to just Dempsey and Wren Sinclair.

Lola Vice and Kelani Jordan Attacked Blake Monroe and Jaida Parker

This was one of those typical talking segments in WWE where everyone took turns interrupting each other. Monroe making fun of Jordynne Grace effectively furthered their feud, but the rest of this was whatever. It felt like a lazy way to set up future challengers to the NXT Women's Championship. But wasn't that what last week's segment with Fatal Influence, Parker and Lash Legend was for? I'd rather Monroe vs. Grace be its own story.

Fallon Henley def. Lash Legend

I thought Parker and Legend would win their matches with relative ease, but I'm glad they went with the unexpected finish here by having Henley defeat Legend, even if it was with an assist from Nia Jax. Honestly, Jax being back in NXT for a short run intrigues me. She was called up to the main roster almost a decade ago, so it's been a long time, and it's not like she's in the middle of anything important at the moment on SmackDown. Using her to elevate Legend is a good idea, assuming it plays out that way.

Je'Von Evans def. Wes Lee

There was a point in time where I wanted to see these two feud, but Lee has been so devalued in the last year where it wouldn't really mean as much as it once would have. Nonetheless, they have terrific chemistry together and thus this was a super enjoyable outing between them. Post-match, Oba Femi was shown watching from the platform up above, so it looks like Femi vs. Evans is on for Heatwave if I had to guess.

NXT North American Champion Ethan Page def. Santino Marella

Not counting the 2020 women's Royal Rumble match (besides, that was his sister, Santina!), this was Marella's first televised WWE match since 2014. I got sick of him by the end of his WWE run, but he rarely wrestles nowadays and has been perfect in his role as TNA's on-air authority figure the past two years, so I thought it was cool he returned for a one-off here. This wasn't worthy of the main event spot by any means, but it was fun for what it was and the crowd was behind Marella. He didn't look out of place at all. It was another quality title defense for Page, who will probably be the champ for the foreseeable future considering he just introduced that custom belt.

Overall Show

It's worth noting that the show closed with Tony D'Angelo being approached by a shadowy figure in a pre-taped segment, and Joe Hendry teases popping up during random matches. No idea what either of those things will lead to, but we shall see. The episode itself was solid if not unspectacular. Evans vs. Lee was the highlight of the night from an in-ring standpoint, and while the women got a ton of television time and moved some stuff forward, it wasn't the most compelling show on the whole.
