Je'Von Evans, Laredo Kid and Sean Legacy Attacked NXT North American Champion Ethan Page and The Vanity Project

Some of the guys were already in the ring, so I assume the segment had to be adjusted due to Rey Fenix not being able to make it due to travel issues. What we got wasn't great, but it accomplished what in needed to as far as setting up the eight-man tag team match for later in the show. For the record, Vanity Project is just Swipe Right and some dude named Jackson Drake (I don't watch Evolve so I'm not familiar with him).

DarkState (Cutler James, Dion Lennox and Osiris Griffin) def. Chase U (Uriah Connors, Kale Dixon and Andre Chase)

DarkState had a rough start in NXT due to coming off like a knockoff Shield (they still do in some ways), but they've definitely improved in the last few months in both their booking and presentation. This was a perfectly serviceable match that gave them another win to maintain momentum. Meanwhile, I genuinely don't understand the point of rebooting Chase U other than to keep those guys busy with something.

Myles Borne def. Charlie Dempsey in a Rounds Match

Per the stipulation, Borne is now free to leave No Quarter Catch Crew. Following his impressive performance against Oba Femi at Battleground, that's probably for the best. I thought there was a chance Dempsey might cheat to win to keep Borne in their ranks, but apparently not. I'm not a fan of the Rounds matches, but this was well wrestled and they made the most of their time.

Tyra Mae Steele def. Arianna Grace

I was a big fan of what I saw from Steele on WWE LFG, not to mention the work I had already seen her do on Level Up when that was a thing. She has a high ceiling and I'm glad her NXT in-ring debut was a success. Grace was a good first opponent for her as well. Hopefully they take their time with her and don't immediately thrust her into championship contention like they did with the other LFG winner Jasper Troy.

An NXT Women's Division Brawl Interrupted NXT Women's Champion Jacy Jane

I hate the revolving door of promos segment WWE tends to do on occasion and this was no exception. It's just so lazy and no one's mic work gets a chance to breathe. Needless to say, the highlight of this segment was Mariah May making her shocking debut. Rumors and reports indicated she'd be WWE bound eventually coming off her AEW departure, but that was only last Friday, so I didn't think she'd show up so soon. It's worth noting that she wasn't referred to by that name, so expect a new name for her in the next few weeks.

Dragon Lee, Je’Von Evans, Sean Legacy, and Laredo Kid def. The Vanity Project (Brad Baylor, Ricky Smokes and Jackson Drake) and NXT North American Champion Ethan Page

Lee stepped up as the babyfaces' partner with Fenix not being able to make it. This was as enjoyable as you'd expect given the level of talent involved. Sure, it was a total spot-fest, so will the Fatal 4-Way for the NXT North American Championship at Worlds Collide, so it was fitting. It was announced Legacy will face the winner of the 4-Way this weekend for the title on next week's show.

TNA World Champion Trick Williams def. Mike Santana

I was curious how this would be handled since I maintain that Santana should be the one to ultimately dethrone Williams at TNA Slammiversary next month in Santana's home state of New York. I didn't think Williams would straight-up beat Santana, but at least there was interference from First Class to protect Santana in defeat (plus Elijah was there to hype build toward Williams vs. Elijah at Against All Odds this Friday). This was a quality main event, though it's still strange to see the TNA World Championship treated like a top title in NXT.

Overall Show

It's hard to call this a go-home show for Worlds Collide since only one match on the card was properly promoted, but they did a nice job with that, regardless. The rest of the episode was solid stuff. May's debut will be the only thing anyone is talking about, but the main event was well done and everything else served a purpose. NXT is slowly adapting the "less is more" approach to these shows and it's much more effective in my opinion.
