TNA World Tag Team Champions The Hardy Boyz def. NXT Tag Team Champions Axiom and Nathan Frazer (NXT Tag Team Championship Was Not Defended)As I've said before, The Hardyz still being so over helps their matches because the crowds are so hot for everything they do, and that's not to say they can't hold their own in the ring, either. This was a super enjoyable opener with the two teams working really well together. The Hardyz had to win, but I wouldn't mind a rematch for the NXT Tag Team Championship, ideally at Stand & Deliver (unless we get a rematch sooner than that and the rubber match is WrestleMania 41 weekend). Jordynne Grace def. Roxanne PereI don't know if Grace slipping on the ropes was intentional or not, but I loved how they immediately incorporated that into the match with Perez aggressively targeting Grace's knee throughout. The action was excellent and I appreciated that we got a clean finish (I thought there was a chance Bayley might get involved to cost Perez the win). This was definitely better than their Battleground bout last summer and that was top-notch, too. NXT Champion Oba Femi def. TNA X-Division Champion Moose (TNA X-Division Championship Was Not Defended)This was a hell of a hoss fight and everything I was hoping it'd be. Moose finally getting a chance to showcase his skills on a bigger stage has been cool to see. I never expected Moose to win, but he had a strong showing in defeat and hopefully this isn't the last time we'll see him on NXT. I can almost guarantee you that whatever Femi ends up doing at Stand & Deliver will not measure up to this. Je'Von Evans def. Ethan Page in a Street FightThis would have been an awesome opener had this show not been stacked with so much other stuff, but this was a blast, nonetheless. Evans really thrived in the extreme environment and there were some sweet spots. These two put together a great storyline over the last two months and this was the perfect payoff. The knock-off Shield/RETRIBUTION faction attacking Evans afterward did nothing for me, though. Trick Williams Attacked Eddy ThorpeThorpe was being interviewed by Sarah Schreiber at ringside (and receiving a ton of crowd heat) when Williams showed up and attacked him. They already announced that they're having an NXT Underground match in two weeks on NXT TV, so this was designed to build toward that and give Williams a measure of revenge on Thorpe. This was short, sweet and straight to the point. NXT Women's North American Champion Stephanie Vaquer def. Giulia in a Title vs. Title Match to Win the NXT Women's ChampionshipNeedless to say, this should've been the main event of Stand & Deliver, but oh well. Perhaps Giulia is legitimately hurt/banged up or they just have other plans for the two of them at that show. Regardless, this was an entertaining main event with a fantastic final stretch. Both women are massive fan favorites, so the crowd would've been happy with whoever won (as long as we got a clean finish and we did). My only complaint is that it should've lasted longer. Overall ShowI've seen some say on social media that this was the best episode of NXT TV of all-time and, honestly, it's hard to argue with that. I don't know if I'd go so far as to say "ever," but it's in the conversation. Is it the best under Shawn Michaels? Easily. This was essentially a premium live event disguised as a special edition of NXT. All five matches were above-average and the New York City crowd was into everything all night long. As incredible as this was, I have no idea how they intend to top themselves at Stand & Deliver.
