WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn def. The Meta-Four (Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend)I wouldn't have predicted Meta-Four to take the titles regardless, but they would've had a better chance of winning had it not already been announced that Fyre and Dawn will be defending against Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill on Friday's SmackDown. That made it pretty predictable they weren't losing before then. This was decent, but I can't say I cared. Are all of Meta-Four supposed to be babyfaces now? At least Ethan Page and Oro Mensah furthered their feud afterward before their NXT Championship matchup for next week was made official later on. NXT Heritage Cup Champion Tony D'Angelo def. Tavion HeightsI know D'Angelo has been holding gold for a while now, but this feels like the least important he's been during his entire NXT run. That's how little that NXT Heritage Cup Championship matters, unfortunately. He's making the most of it with regular title defenses, but it's bottom-of-the-card stuff, not to mention The D'Angelo Family vs. No Quarter Catch Crew ran its course a while ago. This was well wrestled, but the best part about it was Wren Sinclair's interactions with No Quarter Catch Crew at ringside. Cedric Alexander def. Brooks JensenHey, Alexander finally won a match on television for a change! If we're not counting Main Event, I assume that hasn't happened since his Hurt Business days. There wasn't much to the match, but I was happy with the outcome because Jensen continues to bore me. Yes, it's strange he lost after beating Josh Briggs last week, but Alexander has a significantly higher ceiling than Jensen does in my opinion. Gallus Crashed Joe Hendry's ConcertHendry's had some really entertaining concerts in TNA this past year, and while this wasn't the best one he's ever done, it was still fun for what it was. It was also damn cool to see it on a bigger platform like NXT and he had the crowd with him from start to finish. Gallus attacking him sets up him taking on Joe Coffey next week. It's amazing how Hendry is practically a full-fledged member of the NXT roster at this point. Jaida Parker def. Kendall GreyGrey teased adopting more of an edge recently on Level Up, so I was glad to see a small preview of that here. Despite that, this was another opportunity for Parker to shine and she did just that. It was an average outing that didn't get a ton of time, but it was what it needed to be. I assume Parker is racking up wins so she can challenge for the NXT Women's North American Championship eventually. Fallon Henley, Jacy Jane and Jazmyn Nyx def. Karmen Petrovic, Sol Ruca and Lola ViceThis six-woman tag team feud has clearly been designed to keep everyone involved busy, but to their credit, this was a very good match. They worked a nice pace and got an ample amount of time to do their thing. I'm not sure where they go from here (unless there's a rematch where the babyfaces avenge their loss), but I would like to see the trio of Henley, Jane and Nyx continue. NXT Women's Champion Roxanne Perez def. Thea HailHail has had an excellent character arc over the last year and I love that she got an opportunity at the NXT Women's Championship exactly one year removed from her last shot at The Great American Bash 2023. She's become a terrific babyface and she had a strong showing in defeat here. Ridge Holland told her earlier in the night that she'd have to do "whatever it takes," and she didn't, so I can see Holland turning heel out of frustration soon. Overall ShowNight 1 of NXT's Great American Bash special didn't get off to the most stellar start as the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship were never truly in jeopardy of changing hands and and the NXT Heritage Cup Championship is pointless, but the rest of the show was solid and it picked up with Hendry's concert. They saved the best for last as the main event was easily the highlight of the night. Kudos to Perez and Hail for delivering in that spot.
