Randy Orton def. Drew McIntyreThis match was made official a week ago, but the focus shifted to Logan Paul and Jelly Roll at ringside after what happened on Friday's SmackDown. Orton and McIntyre worked well together as always, but the outcome virtually didn't matter since McIntyre and Paul attacked Orton and Jelly afterward, anyway. Orton's backstage conversation with Jelly later on basically made the tag team matchup official for SummerSlam, for anyone who cares. Nick Aldis Appointed Bianca Belair as Special Guest Referee for Jade Cargill vs. Naomi at EvolutionCargill and Naomi have been brawling so much since WrestleMania season that this latest brawl wasn't anything new, but Aldis breaking it up and saying he had an announcement made me think the match was going to happen here instead of at Evolution, which would have been ridiculous. Thankfully, this was done to introduce Belair back into the fold and make her the special guest ref for their No Holds Barred bout. That's the perfect role for her considering her ties to the story. United States Champion Solo Sikoa def. Jimmy UsoThis was a last-minute to the card and I can't imagine many people cared. Yes, it was logical after Uso pinned Sikoa in last week's tag team main event, but nothing about this interested me whatsoever. Plus, it played out predicably with Uso being overwhelmed by the interference and that being what cost him in the end. Sikoa needing help to beat Jimmy Uso of all people was pretty lame. Jacob Fatu emerged afterward to save Uso from getting beat down, so I assume the Sikoa vs. Fatu rematch is on for SummerSlam. LA Knight def. Seth RollinsWell, this turned into quite the unfortunate situation. Before the abrupt ending, I was enjoying this first-time-ever encounter between the two. I'd say Knight proved he can hang with the top talent of WWE, but that's been evident for a long time now (lest we forget he challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the main event of Crown Jewel 2023). Rollins' injury appears to be legitimate, and that sucks big time. Hopefully he isn't out long, if at all. If nothing else, I'm glad Knight got a meaningful win out of it, but reportedly, that wasn't supposed to be the plan. World Heavyweight Champion Gunther def. GoldbergI'm guessing Rollins vs. Knight being cut short by a few minutes due to Rollins' injury led to this match being given more time. I don't know if that was the brightest idea (why not give Goldberg more time afterward to address the audience instead of cutting him off so abruptly?), but ultimately, this was decent and Goldberg held his own in what had to be his longest match in decades. He had a few hope spots and didn't embarrass himself. That's really all you could've asked for from the 58-year-old, so this was what it needed to be. Overall ShowNeedless to say, this was the weakest of all the installments of Saturday Night's Main Event since WWE brought it back in December. It was fine but very much an unnecessary show. I liked how they built it around Goldberg's retirement and that was nicely executed (other than the abrupt ending of his post-match promo), but the rest of the show was completely inconsequential. Everything could've happened on any ordinary edition of Raw or SmackDown. As I said in my NXT The Great American Bash review earlier today, WWE is doing themselves no favors by attempting to counterprogram AEW with so many shows. It's actually made them look worse more often than not.
