WWE Worlds Collide Review - September 12, 2025

Penta Addressed the Audience

I couldn't tell you a single word of what Penta said because I don't speak Spanish (or at least I haven't since high school), but from what I could tell, it was a passionate promo that the crowd ate up. Penta has history in AAA, so you'd think he would've had a more meaningful role on the show beyond just talking, but perhaps he'll compete on a future AAA event or the next Worlds Collide card they do.

Mascarita Sagrada, Laredo Kid, Octagon Jr. and New La Parka def. Mini Abismo Negro, Lince Dorado and The LWO (Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde)

I remember Sagrada from his time in Lucha Underground, assuming it's the same guy in the mask. He's a treat to watch and it was especially entertaining seeing him in there with Negro. This wasn't a completely clean matchup, but I thought it was a fun opener on the whole that received a ton of time. Perhaps they could've shaved off a few minutes, but the length wasn't a major issue for me.

Natalya def. Faby Apache in a AAA Reina de Reinas Championship No. 1 Contender's Match

What's hilarious about this more aggressive alter-ego from Natalya is that they're still calling her Natalya instead of Nattie (which is what her gear says and what she calls herself) and the entrance music is still the same, too. Why not switch it up when she's not on WWE's usual programming? Her and Apache are two seasoned veterans, so they had the well-worked match you'd expect from them.

AAA World Tag Team Champions Psycho Clown and Pagano def. Grayson Waller and Kofi Kingston

Waller filled in for Xavier Woods, who apparently wasn't cleared to compete. I didn't think the titles would actually change hands so soon after Clown and Pagano won them from Los Garza, but it was a quality contest, nonetheless. The Wyatt Sicks showing up afterward was very random, especially since they already have the WWE Tag Team Championship, but we'll see where it leads.

Lola Vice and Mr. Iguana def. The Judgment Day (Roxanne Perez and World Tag Team Champion Finn Balor)

This followed up on what happened with Iguana and Balor on AAA's last event (I didn't watch it but saw the clips of the Demonito doll on social media). This was very "sports-entertainment" heavy, and most of it wasn't exactly my cup of tea, but the crowd seemed to like it. Vice and Iguana going over surprised me with Judgement Day being such a featured act on Raw, but it was the right outcome.

AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo de Wagner Jr. def. World Tag Team Champion JD McDonagh, Dragon Lee and NXT North American Champion Ethan Page in a Fatal-4 Way Match (NXT North American Championship Was Not Defended)

What a random assortment of stars. I understand AAA doesn't have a weekly show (at least not yet), but they really should have given more of a reason for why this match was happening and why McDonagh, Page and Lee were involved. It was a good four-way, but similar to the tag title match, I didn't think the AAA Latin American Championship was truly in jeopardy of changing hands here.

Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio def. El Hijo de Vikingo to Win the AAA Mega Championship (Intercontinental Championship Was Not Defended)

Evidently, Vikingo is back to being called El Hijo del Vikingo instead of just Vikingo, which is what WWE was calling him after their acquisition of AAA. Regardless, I didn't think this was a great main event at all. Vikingo had to slow down the pace for Mysterio and it didn't feel like they were on the same page as a result. I don't think putting AAA's top title on a WWE talent is ideal, but this crowd sure didn't mind Mysterio winning. We'll see if Mysterio holds the title hostage or if he's able to elevate the AAA brand as champ.

Overall Show

AAA is basically WWE's version of Ring of Honor right now (except without weekly television) in that their big events have little storyline consistency but have solid action. While I wouldn't say this show is worth checking out in its entirety, it had a few highlights and was capped off by a notable title change. God bless anyone who sat through all five hours of WWE programming tonight between SmackDown and Worlds Collide.
