FTR def. The Infantry in an AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament Semifinal MatchIt's cool that The Infantry made it this far in the tournament, but there was no way they were getting past FTR here. Despite that, they put forth another commendable performance and looked credible in defeat. Hopefully AEW capitalizes on the momentum they've managed to build up. With this win, FTR advance to the finals of this tag title tournament to face The Young Bucks at Dynasty. Pac def. Encore MooreI'm very familiar with Moore from his work in the northeast independent scene. I believe he's done some work for MLW (and has shown up on Dark in the past as well), but he really should be signed somewhere right now. That said, this wasn't all about Pac and giving him a decisive victory before calling Kazuchika Okada afterward for a shot at his AEW Continental Championship. Sign me the hell up for that! LionHook def. Shane Taylor PromotionsOne of the best parts of Collision when it premiered last summer was that the soft brand split meant that there was no Chris Jericho. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. Jericho is obviously great, but as I've said many times before, most of what he's been involved in for the better part of the past few years has made for terrible television and this alliance with Hook is no exception. Anthony Ogogo showed up for the first time in years to lead Shane Taylor Promotions in a beatdown of LionHook. Okay, then. House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King and Buddy Matthews) def. "Bounty Hunter" Bryan Keith, Christopher Daniels and Matt SydalBlack just beat Daniels in a singles match on Rampage, so that was why they faced off again here. We already know that House of Black will battle the trio of Adam Copeland, Eddie Kingston and Mark Briscoe in a six-man tag team match at Dynasty, so this was designed to establish them as a dominant force before. Speaking of Copeland's crew, they fended off House of Black afterward. Yuka Sakazaki def. Trish AdoraSakazaki has made several appearances for AEW over the years but has never been consistently featured. I don't see that changing anytime soon, but I do think she's being built up to lose to someone else, most likely Serena Deeb who popped up on the stage afterward. More of Deeb is definitely not a bad thing, so that should be good. This was a nice match while it lasted as both women are talented. Claudio Castagnoli def. The ButcherThe Butcher has had a handful of singles matches in recent months (potentially because The Blade is hurt), yet he hasn't won a match all year. In other words, it's impossible to take the guy seriously. This was a well-worked matchup, but I'm glad it was kept on the shorter side. Castagnoli really should be doing more than the occasional Blackpool Combat Club tag team match. Penta El Zero Miedo def. AAA Cruiserweight Champion Komander (Non-Title)If you enjoy fun lucha action, then you probably dug this main event. It was the spot-fest you'd expect from them and it was certainly entertaining, but it would've meant more if we didn't get it so often in AEW. It's already been announced that Penta will challenge Copeland for the AEW TNT Championship this coming Wednesday on Dynamite, so this served its purpose in attempting to make Penta look like somewhat of a threat to the title before then. Overall ShowThis episode also featured Renee Paquette interviewing Bryan Danielson and Will Ospreay in separate segments about their upcoming clash at Dynasty, which were arguably the two best parts of the show. It absolutely wasn't the announcement that footage of the CM Punk and Jack Perry altercation from last year's All In event will be airing on Wednesday's Dynamite. Ugh. As for this edition of Collision, it was solid, but considering it aired so late, I can't say it was worth staying up for. More power to you if you were one of those people.
