Orange Cassidy def. Alex ReynoldsThis was Cassidy's first appearance on AEW TV since being betrayed by Trent Beretta, who showed up afterward and quickly retreated when Chuck Taylor backed up Cassidy. The match itself was whatever as Reynolds was obviously never a threat to Cassidy, and I'm not sure why this needed to last as long as it did, but it existed to set up the aforementioned post-match angle. Cassidy vs. Beretta feels like a logical addition to the Dynasty card, but I don't know if they rush into that this soon. AEW TBS Champion Julia Hart def. "Legit" Leyla Hirsch in an Open House Rules MatchHart was already scheduled to defend against Willow Nightingale at Dynasty, so there was zero uncertainty surrounding the outcome, but it was cool to see Hirsch on AEW programming for a change. She's been a regular in Ring of Honor for the last year but should be utilized in AEW more often. She's a terrific talent and was building momentum before getting hurt two years ago. This was a nice little match for what it was. Zak Knight def. "Cool Hand" Angelo ParkerThis storyline has gone on for way too long and thus the match didn't interest me in the slightest. If you've been digging the angle, more power to you, but I haven't been able to get into it. At least it's been exclusive to Rampage and hasn't eaten up television time anywhere else. I applaud the effort they put into this match, but all I could think when it was over was that Knight winning guarantees the feud will continue. ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion Jay White def. Matt SydalI don't know if White beating a top-tier main event player right now would be enough to make up for that trash he had to endure against Billy Gunn on last Wednesday's Dynamite, so needless to say, a win over Sydal does very little to change my mind regarding AEW's abysmal use of White as of late. It's better than nothing I suppose, and it was a quality contest for the time allotted, but headlining Rampage isn't where White should be slotted right now. Overall ShowThis was a very Rampage edition of Rampage, and no, that was not a typo. That's just the best way to describe it. White vs. Sydal was the definition of a Rampage main event in that it was well wrestled but accomplished nothing. The rest of the show was serviceable but isn't worth seeking out. You won't be wasting your time by tuning in live, but a lot of these Rampage episodes have little to no replay value.
