Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens def. Pretty DeadlyProps to Pretty Deadly for holding their own in what was easily the biggest match of their careers to date. They had a chance to shine in their home country and they made the most of it. This was a very good match and competitive enough to make Pretty Deadly look credible in defeat. I'd definitely be down for these teams running it back down the road. As I've said before, WWE has done everything right with Pretty Deadly so far on the main roster. United States Champion Austin Theory def. Ridge Holland in a Championship Contender's MatchYou know Vince McMahon's creative influence within WWE is growing when we get Championship Contender's matches back because the old man doesn't like the term "non-title." Holland wanted to get his hands on Solo Sikoa after being attacked by him backstage last week but got Theory instead. For those keeping track, this marked Theory's first appearance on the program in three weeks. And yes, he very much remains an afterthought. This was a well-worked match, but the crowd did not care until Sheamus made the save for Holland afterward. Bayley def. ShotziBayley's spot in the women's Money in the Bank Ladder match was on the line. This was supposed to happen last week but got cut from the show. I hate when WWE advertises a match and don't deliver on it, but I can't say I was bummed this was bumped because it didn't end up being very good, anyway. Sadly, that's been the case with Shotzi's matches for a long time now. The London crowd sure did love Bayley, though. LA Knight, Santos Escobar and Butch Interrupted LA Knight on The Grayson Waller Effect Hosted by Grayson Waller; Butch def. Escobar and Knight in a Triple Threat MatchOn a side note, Waller mentioned on social media this week that he did indeed get injured when he wrestled Carmelo Hayes for the NXT Championship in two months ago and that's why he hasn't made his in-ring debut yet on SmackDown. The segment itself was pretty basic, but the crowd ate it up. Paul generated great heat and Knight was super over. I'd definitely be down for a Knight vs. Paul program going into SummerSlam. The subsequent Triple Threat was fun while it lasted. Butch has nearly no chance of becoming Mr. Money in the Bank on Saturday, but I appreciate the effort to give him a last-minute boost by having him win and then posing with the briefcase atop the ladder. WWE Women's Champion Asuka def. Charlotte Flair by DisqualificationAdam Pearce told Bianca Belair she was barred from ringside last week, but that didn't stop Belair from sitting in the crowd and interfering, anyway. What a lame finish. The match was the usual solid stuff from Asuka and Flair, but it was far from their best bout. In fact, it felt like a watered-down version of what they can actually do and the commercial break didn't help. They might be holding out until SummerSlam where it can be a Triple Threat also involving Belair, but it didn't make for the most exciting television match. The Usos Attacked The BloodlineThis was the first time we've heard from Roman Reigns since The Usos turned on him two weeks ago. Everything he said made sense along with The Usos. None of the promos were particularly memorable, but the segment effectively furthered the feud between the two teams heading into Money in the Bank and the crowd was hot for the brawl. Can The Usos still feel like a threat to Reigns if they don't win at the pay-per-view? Overall ShowI was looking forward to this show given what was advertised and it ended up being a disappointment. The hype for Money in the Bank was well done and the London crowd added to my enjoyment of the episode, but beyond what opened and closed the night, this was a weak episode on the whole. Most of the middle was total throwaway and that's a shame. WWE really should have delivered a hotter show in front of such a rowdy crowd, but maybe the company thought they would be content with anything.
