What's the Royal Rumble Game?It isn't Royal Rumble season until the official details for my annual Royal Rumble Game are released, and thus here we are! It's actually quite crazy to think that it was five years ago this month that I started doing the Royal Rumble Game, and the turnout every year has only grown exponentially since then. Here's to another five years and many more! Plus, I'll be in attendance for this year's Royal Rumble event for the first time ever, making me extremely excited for this upcoming installment! By this point, everyone should be fairly familiar with the rules of the Royal Rumble (considering it's usually the same people who throw their name in the hat every year), but for those who are unfamiliar with the concept, here have been the rules in the past: You pick a number 1-30. Each entry is limited to one person (you can still play unofficially if you'd like), and it's first come, first serve. The designated sign-up date and time is below. Whoever enters at your number in the Royal Rumble Game will be your "favorite" wrestler for the next year. I said that lightheartedly because you don't have to stick to that if you don't want to, but it's more fun if you do. All of that will remain the same this year... except that with a women's Royal Rumble happening in addition to the men's, there will be 60 available spots in total in the 2018 Royal Rumble Game! You are still limited to only one spot, but when you choose a number 1-30, please specify whether it's for the men's or women's Rumble. No two people can choose the same spot in either Rumble. Therefore, there will be two winners for the first time ever! What Can I Win?It doesn't end there, though. For the third straight year, we will have a prize hanging in the balance! Not only will you have the honor of winning the Rumble Game if your entry comes out on top in either of the annual Battle Royals on January 28th, you will also win a free WrestleRant Radio t-shirt! They're also available on the WhatAManeuver.net store, or you can choose to buy the t-shirt of whoever you got in the Rumble (and if they don't have a shirt, you can get the aforementioned WrestleRant Radio tee). If you win, I will contact you in the subsequent days with information as to how it will be sent over to you. Also, if you win the 2018 Royal Rumble Game, you automatically earn entry into next year's game and get to choose your number before anyone else! Due to winning the 2017 Royal Rumble Game, Sal Dangelo has already entered this year's installment, choosing the No. 29 in the men's Rumble. As always, I'll have No. 17 (it's my favorite number, so that's the only reasoning behind it). In the past, I've gotten The Godfather, Sheamus, Kofi Kingston, Braun Strowman and Big E, so we'll see what this year has in store. How Can I Earn Entry Become the Official Sign-Up Time?As is usually the case, I will be bringing back my wrestling Twitter trivia session #GSMTrivia on Tuesday, January 16th at 8 p.m. eastern time (a.k.a. during SmackDown Live and will wrap up right around the time the show ends). The rules will be explained on my Twitter at @WrestleRant shortly beforehand. If you take part in #GSMTrivia and win, you'll also earn a spot in the Royal Rumble Game before the official sign-up time. The runner-up will also earn entry into the opposite Rumble of whoever takes first place. RJ Marceau won the 2016 #GSMTrivia session, chose No. 30 in the Rumble, and ended up winning the whole thing after Triple H reigned supreme that year! Speaking of the sign-up time... When Can I Sign Up For a Spot? Now comes the question everyone's been asking: how and when will you be able to choose your number in the 2018 Royal Rumble Game? In past years, people have left comments on this very blog post with what number they want, and we'll be taking that same approach with this year's installment with a slight tweak. When the comment section opens (and you'll find out exactly when in a second), you can leave a comment down below with the number you want and which Rumble it is designated for (either men's or women's) and either a Twitter handle or an email address I can contact you at if you win. When the full roster of 60 people is set, your name will be attached to the number down below and your name will be linked to whatever Twitter handle/email address you used in your comment. As noted, spots are limited; there are going to be 60 this year, so while they likely won't fill up as quickly as they have in past years, still be sure to act fast. Only one person can be assigned to a number (and as previously noted, you can only be assigned to one Rumble match, not both) and there's no doubling up (not officially, anyway). I will respond to your comment with approval that the number is yours. First come, first serve! Even if you don't get to officially participate, you can still play along at home! The drawing of the numbers will be going down on Wednesday, January 17th at 9 p.m. ET! Thanks and hope to see you participate in the game! Official Roster
