By Graham "GSM" Matthews With 2015 quickly coming to a close, I just want to take the time to thank anyone and everyone who has supported and listened to WrestleRant Radio at any point over the last year, easily making this the most successful year for the show yet. We've had the pleasure of talking to the likes of WWE Superstar Chris Jericho, WCW Legend Goldberg, TNA's Tyrus, former WWE Creative Writer and Lucha Underground Executive Producer Chris DeJoesph, Tough Enough contestant Gabi Castrovinci, and many others, but 2015 is far from over! First and foremost, this week's WrestleRant Radio will not be going up on Tuesday per usual but rather on the evening of Wednesday, December 16. This is to accommodate for NXT TakeOver: London, so it will be a loaded show with thoughts on that event, Monday's blockbuster Raw and our on-site report for the TLC pay-per-view in Boston on Sunday night. It will also be the final episode recorded on campus from RJ Marceau and myself before we break for the holiday (and we'll be back with live episodes on January 25, 2016). By Graham "GSM" Matthews
It's amazing to think it's been five years to the day since I started Next Era Wrestling. I had been running my own wrestling website entitled AJM for over two years by November 2010, but at that point in time, AJM was a fantasy wrestling organization I ran with my brother. AJM, which was renamed to Next Era Wrestling in early 2010, was never anything I ever considered doing professionally but rather merely for fun, so I recorded the results of the matches we did on the website. I moved the site over from Freewebs (I believe it's been shortened to just Webs now) to Weebly that November, which gave birth to the website you're reading now. As noted, Next Era Wrestling five years ago wasn't close to what it has since become. It consisted of nothing more than match results from the aforementioned fantasy wrestling organization, which you can now find in the Archive section of the site. It wasn't until mid-2011 that I started writing reviews of Raw, SmackDown and the WWE pay-per-views exclusively for the site and now, no less than a dozen articles are up per week. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Save the date: Tuesday, September 1, 2015 is the date WrestleRant Radio resumes going live on Endicott College's premiere radio station, EC Radio! Since my school semester ended in early May, I've been hosting the show from my very own household and have been recording it to publish at any point during the day on Tuesdays. It's been a great summer for the show, as I've been able to bring on several familiar faces (er, voices) and host several exclusive interviews with the likes of TNA's Tyrus and Tough Enough's Gabi Castrovinci, among others. However, I'll be returning to my college campus that Monday and I've received word from the director of the radio station that we've been given the green light to go live that Tuesday night, September 1st at 9/8c. It'll run the usual hour and returning to host the show alongside me will be RJ Marceau to help me break down the world of wrestling! By Graham "GSM" Matthews Although Next Era Wreslting has been around since 2010, this last year has been more pertinent to the site's success than any other. In January 2014, Next Era Wrestling upgraded and began featuring original audio content (WrestleRant Radio) and debuted its very own search bar to make the process of finding archived content much easier. A little less than a year later, the site underwent cosmetic changes and debuted an all-new layout on January 1. And finally, as of March 2015, Next Era Wrestling now has its own domain name: nexterawrestling.net! For those who can recall, I experimented with the .net domain in last December, but I lost control of it at the start of the year. It became available for purchase in the spring and I jumped on the opportunity to buy it immediately. And yes, the website is still accessible through nexterawrestling.weebly.com; it will automatically direct you to the new domain of nexterawrestling.net. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Well, it's that time of the year again! My official Royal Rumble Game is back for the third straight year, and for those who have never played before, this is your chance to join in on the fun! The rules are as follows: You pick a number 1 through 30. Only one person can be assigned to a number, so spots are limited. Whoever draws that number in the Royal Rumble match on January 25 is your favorite wrestler until next year's Royal Rumble event! For the last two years, I've chosen No. 17 and this year will be no different. This means that I got The Godfather in 2013 (which was hilarious since it was completely unexpected and I wasn't forced to like him for a full year since he was a one-off) and Sheamus in 2014. I can't say I've made a strong effort to make Sheamus my all-time favorite wrestler since last year's Rumble, so I may not be the best example of my own game, but it's all fun and games. If you want to make whoever comes out at your number your new favorite wrestler, then great! If not, that's fine as well! |
