NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion Homicide def. Doug WilliamsHomicide has only been Junior Heavyweight champ for a few weeks and already he's had two title defenses, which is pretty cool. In fact, the commentators noted that per Homicide, all of his matches going forward will be title defenses. That's a smart way to establish the championship's prestige right out of the gate. Obviously, both of these guys are seasoned veterans and despite the difference of styles, they had a really nice, well-wrestled match.

Dustin Rhodes def. Lance ArcherThis was a rematch from the semifinals of the AEW TNT Championship Tournament nearly two years ago. I assume the only reason this match happened is because both guys are Texas natives and that's where this episode emanated from. They had a good match, but based on what happened afterward with Archer attacking Rhodes and his students, it seems like they intentionally held back so they can have a better bout at some point. It's a fine feud, but Archer losing again after already failing to win the AEW World Championship from Adam Page last month isn't exactly ideal.
Joe Gacy def. Quincy ElliottGacy being relegated to Level Up for the last month has been weird considering he was all over NXT when he first started doing his current gimmick. I know he's been in the midst of a storyline with Draco Anthony, but it's interesting they started to tone down his presence on the program just when he started to find his footing with the character. Nonetheless, this was below-average. Elliott was one of his opponents in that Gauntlet match he had prior to WarGames back in December and he clearly isn't ready for TV. Gacy tried to get a competent match out of him, but even at four minutes, this was longer than it should have been.
Shinsuke Nakamura def. SmackDown Tag Team Champion Jimmy UsoI've mentioned this before, but the build to this SmackDown Tag Team Championship match at WrestleMania 38 has been so beyond lazy and generic. The Usos are obviously an excellent team and I like the duo of Nakamura and Boogs, but it feels like a subpar television match at this point. On the bright side, Nakamura vs. Uso was a quality contest for as long as it lasted and Nakamura winning was logical to give the babyfaces a necessary momentum boost.
