![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Bo Dallas def. Zack Ryder Anyone who follows me on social media knows I almost went to the live event in Boston this past weekend, so hearing Dallas talk about his interaction with The Rock at that show made me feel even more bad that I didn't go. His pre-match promo recalling the encounter was entertaining, especially the photo of him with Rock from when he was younger. It was definitely better than the match itself, which just felt flat. They put together a passable match, but the crowd didn't seem to be into it other than getting behind Ryder at various points. Fandango def. Heath Slater I'm sorry but Fandango just doesn't do anything for me either as a heel or as a babyface. He's been branded as an enhancement talent for life and it's a shame because he's a hell of a wrestler in the ring. At least Slater knows his role as a "job guy" and he sold well for Slater in this match, but again, the crowd couldn't have cared less about it because both guys are so low on the totem pole that they had zero reason to invest in either of them.

![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins Presented Kane and J&J Security with Gifts It's bad enough to kick off the show with an Authority promo (no surprise there), but to have the segment go 20 minutes without any real pay-off felt like a complete waste. Rollins is an entertaining character, especially when he's in Oprah mode, but what was this supposed to accomplish? It was a whole lot of nothing that had me zoning out constantly because I never thought it would end. Worse yet, whose brilliant idea was it to promote Big Show vs. Mark Henry for after the commercial break? Just a terrible way of opening the show all around. Big Show def. Mark Henry I wasn't a fan of the Show vs. Henry feud back in 2011, so you could only imagine how empathetic I felt toward this match. Could it have been worse? Sure, but not by much. It's not that it was a terrible match, but we've seen it so many times before and also, there was no one for the crowd to cheer! Show and Henry were heels the last time I checked and The Miz (another heel) sat in on commentary. This, like the previous segment, was a total train wreck and beyond pointless. ![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews #AskGSM is a weekly Q&A video where I, Graham "GSM" Matthews, answer fan questions from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in regards to the world of wrestling. ![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews X-Division Champion Tigre Uno def. DJ Z and Manik in a Triple Threat Elimination Match What is with TNA constantly putting the X-Division competitors in Triple Threat matches? They make for fun little matches, sure, but that's all they are at the end of the day. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the action in this match and there was never a dull moment, thus keeping the live crowd engaged throughout, but there never seemed to be a story to it. Plus, how did DJ Z and Manik earn title shots anyway? They've been irrelevant as of late, so they never had a chance of winning the strap here (which means next to nothing after all the title changes in recent years), but if nothing else, it was a good opener from an in-ring standpoint. Robbie E def. Jesse Godderz Giving Robbie a change in entrance music is a step in the right direction in turning him babyface, but he has to do more to endear himself to the audience. The match was better than I thought it would be, but the crowd wasn't hot for Robbie or his win because he just hasn't connected yet. While the match exceeded expectations, it had no business going past the 10 minute mark. Hopefully this is the last we see these two against each other and they can both move on to other endeavors. ![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews The Lucha Dragons def. Heath Slater and Bo Dallas The Lucha Dragons are such a blast to watch in the ring that I'm surprised they're not getting more television time than they currently are. They were given a decent push following their debut on the main roster the night after WrestleMania 32, but we haven't seen much of them since. Nevertheless, this was a nice little showcase for them against two quality opponents (in terms of selling, not in terms of them being credible) in Slater and Dallas. I wish they were doing more with Dallas instead of marginalizing him on Superstars. Hopefully we see The Lucha Dragons enter the WWE Tag Team Championship picture in the near future. Cesaro def. Luke Harper To my knowledge, this was the first one-on-one match Cesaro and Harper have had in WWE, so that alone made this match very cool. As expected, they contested a very good match with plenty of back-and-forth action. We also got a sneak peak at a few new maneuvers we haven't seen from either competitor before, so it added a special feel to the match. It's unfortunate both of their tag partners are currently out with injuries, but it'd be nice if WWE realize the talent they had in front of them with Cesaro and Harper as singles stars. |
