![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Sting Addressed WWE World Heavyweight Champion and United States Champion Seth Rollins With Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker off WWE TV for the time being, it was wise to save Sting for the fall to keep the momentum going from the summer season. He kicked off the show on a high note with a very good promo and I always thought he'd be better off saying nothing at all during his time in WWE. Boy, was I wrong. He's a fairly underrated talker in my opinion, even though his promo still had its logical flaws. I assume they're planting the seeds for an eventual Rollins-Triple H feud, but why would Sting call Triple H "a man" after he beat him with a sledgehammer at WrestleMania 31? If nothing else, it was a fine effort by Creative to address the obvious question on everyone's mind regarding why he was given the title opportunity in the first place. Dolph Ziggler def. Rusev by Disqualification Man, it's the feud that never ends. I didn't care for the crap segments they had all over the show (with Lana being made to look like the biggest fool in the world), but I didn't mind the match much at all. They're both very good workers and have nice in-ring chemistry together, but it's not the matches they're having that bother me. Rather, it's how the feud is still going on after three months and the disqualification finish did nothing to make me want to see more from this angle. Just end it already!

![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews #AskGSM is a weekly Q&A video where I, Graham "GSM" Matthews, answer fan questions from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in regards to the world of wrestling. Nothing is off limits, and this week’s edition touches upon a variety of topics including:
![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Zack Ryder def. Heath Slater It was logical to kick off the episode with New York native Zack Ryder as the crowd took a liking to him during the match, though not as much as they would have a few years ago. He's another one who the audience has basically given up on, sadly. Regardless, it was a short and sweet match from Ryder and Slater and while we've seen it multiple times in the past, they never cease to have enjoyable in-ring chemistry together. Los Matadores def. The Ascension The Matadores gimmick is bad enough, but what's worse is that not even Creative cares enough about them to firmly establish them as babyfaces or heels. They were heels in their match with the Prime Time Players on Main Event this week, and then babyfaces in this match against Ascension. I couldn't care less anyway and based off the crowd reaction to this match, most fans don't, either. They were dead silent and you could have heard a pin drop after the Matadores won. ![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose Interrupted The Wyatt Family It would have been foolish of WWE to make The Wyatt Family look weak only days after they added a new monstrous member, but that hasn't stopped them from doing dumb things in the past. That said, I was glad they held off on having the two teams brawl and instead had them encounter each other. They saved the physicality for after the main event and teased what could be one hell of a Handicap/six-man tag match at some point down the line. I don't know if it quite captures the same magic the initial Shield/Wyatt Family matches did, but we'll see who ultimately joins Reigns and Ambrose. The Dudley Boyz def. The Ascension I'm still reeling from the return of The Dudley Boyz on Monday's Raw. What a moment! I've been watching them on TNA TV for years and even saw them in person just last year, but not comes close to seeing them in WWE again. The crowd was hot for their offense and The Ascension were the perfect opponents for them in their first match back because they can obviously take a loss. Anyone who says they were "buried" here is being ridiculous because those are the same people who were complaining they were being shoved down our throats earlier this year. The New Day coming out afterward with their self-made signs was hilarious and I'm anticipating the series of matches we're going to get from the two teams. ![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews TNA World Heavyweight Champion Ethan Carter III Interrupted The Hardyz Jeff Hardy is better on the mic when he's limited, so I'm glad that was the case here. Besides, Matt is easily the stronger talker of the two and it was smart to have him carry most of this segment before EC3 came out. EC3 continues to play the pest heel role to perfection and he's only improved as his title reign has progressed. I don't know how to feel about the slave storyline, but I'll discuss that more in detail later in the review. Talking segments aren't the best way of kicking off any wrestling show, but at least the response from The Hardyz gave viewers as a hook for the remainder of the night Eric Young def. Chris Melendez for Melendez' Leg Yes, you read that correctly, but you might not be questioning it given this is TNA after all. They've had two or three matches so far, and I believe Young has won every one. I'm a sucker for a good story as much as the next guy and perhaps they're building to Melendez's big win, but he's not over enough at this point to be taking all these losses. The match was mediocre and it never felt like anything was on the line. The most hilarious part of this entire segment was Melendez taking off his leg and handing it to Young while just standing there like a goof. |
