By Andy Ravens Welcome to my first addition of WWE NXT Review, So I’m going to be honest & let’s get the stone cold truth out of this. Corey Graves does a backstage interview only to be attacked by Conor O’Brian & Rick Victor. AR’s Truth: Corey was just getting into his promo & it looks they are setting this feud up with Victor & Graves. Victor having Conor O’Brian has his enforcer is good for a character stand point. Will see what O’Brian can do as that but looks good in his tryout. Tyler Breeze def. CJ Parker AR’s Truth: A match that never really got going for me. The action was what it was. Not the best way to open the show but got the ball rolling. Decent 2-5* Match.

Triple H crashes the set of "Miz TV".
By Graham "GSM" Matthews The Miz Hosted "Miz TV" with Big Show and Dolph Ziggler "Miz TV" doesn't usually feature anything of note, but I thought everyone played their respective roles extremely well here. Miz came off much more organic than he usually does and the silence from Ziggler and Show spoke volumes. Triple H established his role as a hated heel here and also managed to take a few shots at the audience, garnering major heat in the process. The matches made by HHH helped give viewers a number of things to look forward to for the rest of the night. WWE Champion Randy Orton def. The Miz (Non-title) It was interesting to see Orton and Miz go against each other, especially since the roles were reversed this time around. They work well together and had a solid bout that could have used a few more minutes to feel a bit more memorable. Michael Cole pointed out on commentary that is was The Shield's interference that ultimately cost Miz the match, which helped protect The Awesome One in defeat. The crowd was red hot for Daniel Bryan's save and it was cool to see Miz and Bryan alongside one another for the first time in years. By Graham "GSM" Matthews TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bully Ray Addressed Devon's Departure As much as I want the whole Aces and Eights storyline to end, it's encouraging to see the members show more and more tension each week. Bully Ray talking trash about Devon makes me fear that Devon might return to rival the group, but I truly hope not. Mr. Anderson standing up to Ray foreshadowed a future feud between the two, which is something I also don't want to see happen again. If nothing else, the mic work from Ray and Anderson in this segment was solid, while the other members kept their respective promos short and sweet. Jeff Hardy def. Kazarian to Earn 7 Points in the Bound For Glory Series Given who was involved, the ultimate outcome was pretty predictable, but they still provided a good match, regardless. Kazarian hasn't mean much in the BFGS, which is a shame, but this was more of a showing for Hardy than it was for Kaz anyway. They work well together, but nothing else about the bout was out of the ordinary.
Curtis Axel takes control of Cody Rhodes.
By Graham "GSM" Matthews Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel def. Cody Rhodes Their initial in-ring meeting on last week's SmackDown was underwhelming, but this match more than made up for it. They managed to create chemistry throughout the bout and provide some fun back-and-forth action. It received substantial amount and made Rhodes look good in defeat. Both Superstars need wins right now, but it was important for Axel to lose another non-title match for the second time this week. The Prime Time Players def. The Real Americans I've been enjoying the feud between these two tandems thus far and am proud of WWE for actually putting focus on their tag team division for once. While the crowd might not have cared for Titus O'Neil's bout with Jack Swagger on this week's Raw, this crown was much more engaged in this tag team affair. The Prime Time Players are getting over nicely and the various victories will only boost their momentum.
WWE Champion Randy Orton takes control of Christian.
By Graham "GSM" Matthews Daniel Bryan Interrupted Triple H and WWE Champion Triple H Similar to last week, HHH and Orton once again provided strong mic work as heels. Thankfully, HHH didn't dragged on as long as he did last week and kept his promo short and sweet for the most part. His chemistry with Orton has been great so far and Bryan also continues to flourish in the role he's currently in. This was a very good way of kicking off the show and establishing the main event match gave viewers something to look forward to for the rest of the night. Cody Rhodes def. Fandango I was surprised by the fact that Rhodes didn't receive an entrance when Fandango did, especially given the fact that WWE is trying to push Rhodes as a babyface at the moment while Fandango is doing nothing. The match was a mere minute long before being interrupted by outside interference, which subsequently led to a tag team match also involving The Miz and Damien Sandow. Speaking of Sandow, I'm glad his feud with Rhodes is set to continue, as Sandow still needs to get his win over Rhodes at some point. |
