By Graham "GSM" Matthews The Miz Hosted 'Miz TV' with Big Show Miz TV has now gotten ten times more entertaining with the dynamic that Miz and Mizdow have, and I liked how Daniel Bryan mentioned that Mizdow is stealing the spotlight away from Miz. Speaking of whom, Bryan did a much better job of setting the stage for the rest of SmackDown than he did on Raw. The segment wasn't dragged out in any way and he had some fun banter with the heels. There really much to say about Big Show other than I just don't care about his latest heel turn. United States Champion Rusev Won a Battle Royal Most Battle Royals tend to be hit or miss and this one fell in the former for me. The match mostly consisted of nobodies, but they were taken out early to leave the better workers and bigger names for the end. The ending outcome was predictable, though they did a good job of making me doubt it with the suspenseful spots with Rusev almost getting eliminated. With Jack Swagger being the last one taken out, it appears he and Rusev will be reigniting their rivalry soon over the star-spangled prize.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews Tyler Breeze def. Marcus Louis While I'm no fan of Louis, I'm fine with him using the "ugliness" aspect of his character to his advantage even if I don't particularly care for it. At least it makes him stand out, so there's there. This wasn't really much of a match at all with Breeze hitting his finisher out of nowhere and that being the end of it. They showed footage afterward of Louis leaving the arena, so the focus was more on him than it was on Breeze, which is a shame. Carmella def. "Blue Pants" Leva Bates It was hilarious to see the Full Sail University crowd chant for a rematch between Carmella and Bates. Is it sad that "Blue Pants" had more of a connection with the crowd than Carmella did? Carmella is still finding her footing as a character and as a wrestling, so it's going to take time. The match was fine, but similar to the opener, it didn't feature many moves before it was over. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Jack Swagger def. Curtis Axel I don't believe these two have ever gone one-on-one before this bout, so it definitely felt fresh. That said, I was disappointed by how short it ended up being. Both guys are very good workers and they easily could have gone longer. Heck, take time out of the second match in order to give this one more time! It was predictable Swagger would go over, especially if he's in line for a United States Championship rivalry with Rusev, but the match itself was fairly underwhelming. The Usos def. Slater Gator As big of a fan as I am of The Usos, not even their involvement in this match could make me care about it. I'm sorry, but I despise Slater Gator with a passion. I don't mind Heath Slater and Titus O'Neil on their own, but as a team, they don't have any chemistry. The match itself was actually half-decent and there were some fun points, but it was otherwise nothing out of the ordinary. By Graham "GSM" Matthews WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz and Damien Mizdow def. Los Matadores (Non-title) This wasn't much different from what we've seen from Miz and Mizdow over the last few days, but that doesn't make it any less entertaining. It's crazy just how over Sandow is right now and I really hope it translates to success for in singles competition when they eventually split up. Los Matadores were a complete afterthought, but they're nothing special anyway so they filled that role nicely. It was another good win for the tag team champs, but with such a depleted tag division, I'm curious as to who will be next to challenge them for the straps. Fandango def. Adam Rose I was noted this in my reviews of Raw and Survivor Series, but there's nothing "new and improved" about Fandango. Sure, he's got a new look and new entrance theme, but the dancing gimmick has to guy if Johnny Curtis wants to get anywhere in this company. As for Rose, nothing was furthered in his program with the Bunny. I as intrigued at first, but now I just want it to end. By Graham "GSM" Matthews The Authority Bid Farewell the WWE Universe I was really hoping that this new ex-Authority era in WWE would kick off without them, but apparently not. I know it's a logical way of following up the pay-per-view, but please let this be the last time we ever have to sit through a long talking segment from them opening Raw. Furthmore, Triple H's comments toward Sting didn't give too much away which was good because there's plenty of time to go back to that before WrestleMania in March. Daniel Bryan Addressed Team Authority Bryan's return was a pleasant surprise and giving him the reins of Raw for a night was a smart move considering he still can't do anything physical. The segment lasted a little longer than it should have, but they set up a lot for the rest of the show in terms of what each member of the team would be involved in. Again, a 30 minute talking segment to kick off the show isn't preferable, but it accomplished quite a bit. |
